What did the hippo say when another called it fat?
👉"That's very hippocritical of you." 🤣

😍 Cuteness Alert at Cheyenne Zoo!
Who knew a 3,000-pound animal could melt our hearts? Omo the hippo, one of the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo’s most playful residents, just turned four—and honestly, he’s cuter than ever. The birthday boy is growing up fast, taking after his proud parents, Zambezi and Biko. These days, you’ll catch him juicing his food like his dad (yes, that’s a thing) and shadowing his mom in both independence and curiosity.
Omo still loves his toys—especially his trusty boomer ball—and recently stole the show during a hippo demo when he splashed over to train with keepers, bringing his toy along like a toddler with a favorite blankie. He’s developing long legs like his dad (nicknamed “Daddy Long Legs”), but he still has that baby charm. If you need a smile today, go watch this big guy in action up at the Zoo!

🔥 Rain Relief… or More Fire Risk?

Colorado is bracing for the uncertain arrival of the North American Monsoon, which could bring welcome rain after a dry spring and early snowmelt—especially on the Western Slope. While parts of the mountains are already seeing scattered showers, it’s too soon to tell whether this season will deliver enough moisture to ease drought or prevent further wildfires.
The monsoon typically peaks in July and August, bringing up to 80 thunderstorm days in parts of the state, including around Colorado Springs. While it can offer much-needed relief, it also poses risks like flash floods, dry lightning, and strong winds—especially for hikers and mountain travelers.
Why I’m sharing this: For many of us in Colorado Springs, our lives revolve around the outdoors—whether it’s hiking, gardening, or just watching the weather roll in over Pikes Peak. We all know how quickly plans can change when thunderheads build up in the afternoon sky.
🚧 Fresh Pavement Rolling In

El Paso County is tackling several long-overdue road projects this summer, focusing on rural areas southeast of Colorado Springs. Crews have recently repaved a stretch of Old Pueblo Road south of Fountain, added a chip-seal treatment to Myers Road near Hanover, and smoothed out parts of Boone Road near the El Paso/Lincoln County line.
Some areas, especially on Boone, still need work and won’t be addressed until next year. Guardrails are also in the works near sections that border steep drop-offs. As the weather allows, the county continues evaluating where repairs are most needed. Full Story

💧 Feeling Puffy or Sluggish? Try This
This guided video shares The Specific 7, a lymphatic drainage technique designed to support your body's natural detoxification process. The tutorial covers each major area — from the “terminus” near your collarbone to diaphragmatic breathing — helping reduce inflammation, improve circulation, and promote wellness.
It's gentle, effective, and easy to do at home. If you’ve ever felt puffy, run down, or just curious about how your lymph system works, this video could be a game-changer.
