🚗 94,000 Potholes Repaired?

The City of Colorado Springs has published its 2024 Popular Annual Financial Report, giving residents a clear, easy-to-understand view of how city funds were spent last year. Major wins include fixing over 94,000 potholes (I know, you might feel this can’t be true as you currently swerve around them 😏), responding to 250,000+ police calls, new drones for fire and police departments, and strong airport usage with 2 million passengers.
The report outlines revenue sources—like sales tax—and explains how those dollars fuel community safety, infrastructure, and future planning. A more technical breakdown is also available in the city’s full audited financial report.

Here's what we know now:
On Wednesday, July 23, 2025, at about 10:35 PM, CSPD responded to a domestic disturbance call for service in the 3800 block of Radiant Drive. Upon arrival, officers contacted the victim and established probable cause for domestic violence-related charges.— Colorado Springs Police Department (@CSPDPIO)

Updated 3:30am Today. A domestic disturbance call late last night turned into a large-scale search and officer-involved shooting in eastern COS. Around 10:35pm, officers responded to the 3800 block of Radiant Dr and identified a suspect who had already fled the scene. Using real-time crime center technology, the suspect’s vehicle was located near N Carefree Cir and Academy. Officers found the vehicle, but he ran off on foot and evaded them at first.
The search continued into the early morning. Eventually, police made contact in the 3400 block of Floris Pt, just north of N Carefree when an officer fired at least one shot. Thankfully, no one was injured, and the adult male suspect was taken into custody.
As required by law, the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office is now leading the investigation,. The officer involved has been placed on administrative leave while the incident is reviewed. Within the next 21 days, CSPD is expected to release a video briefing with body-worn camera footage and other available details.
🧓 Students & Seniors: Better Together

The COAST-IT program at CU Anschutz is helping reduce loneliness by pairing students studying health care with older adults for regular, friendly conversations. These intergenerational connections foster friendship, improve mental and physical well-being, and provide valuable learning for students entering health professions.
Although the program is based in Aurora, we think it would be a fantastic addition here in Colorado Springs. Interested in seeing it come our way? Sign up or let them know you’re interested—it could help bring COAST-IT to our area.
