🥰 If Hallmark Made Tie-Dye: Captain Drips Studio's Love Story

👩🎨 Sometimes The Most Vibrant Dreams Start With An Unexpected Turn...
Like your favorite romance movie, this story begins on a school bus in upstate New York, where two free spirited kids found each other just a mile apart. Holly and Matty Hilts' tale of friendship-turned-love now flourishes in Old Colorado City at Captain Drips Tie Dye Studio – proving some of the best stories come with a splash of color.
When life threw them a curveball with a flooded basement, they saw opportunity blooming. That space became their first studio, where years of hosting artistic tie-dye gatherings evolved into something bigger. While balancing their careers, they've transformed their passion into a welcoming haven at 2215 West Colorado Ave, where everyday moments become wearable art.
Curious about their name and logo? Thank the Grateful Dead's, Jerry Garcia and his "Captain Trips" nickname. 💀
Though they help you create stunning designs year-round, Holly and Matty’s eyes light up when it snows – that's when they craft their signature Rocky Mountain snow-dyed pieces, infusing a touch of Colorado magic to your creation.
Ready to add some color to your life? Schedule your session online, and Holly and Matty will prepare everything for your arrival.
So, gather your friends, family, or treat yourself to a creative adventure and have lots of fun! Captain Drips is more than just a studio; it's a place where memories are made, one vibrant design at a time.
Got Questions? Contact Holly and Matty at (716) 579-3879, [email protected], or visit their website. Follow their colorful journey on Instagram and Facebook.

🚧 Rain or Shine, Galley’s Still a Mess

Galley Road has become a patchwork of construction zones lately, with three major projects disrupting the east-west corridor between Academy and Powers. From valve fixes at Potter Dr to a major water main upgrade, and the most challenging of all—a full teardown and rebuild of the 60-year-old bridge over Sand Creek—delays have piled up. Materials took time to arrive, utility lines had to be rerouted, and every time crews were ready to pour concrete, rainstorms washed out their prep work.
While there’s cautious optimism to wrap things up by fall, residents may want to keep those detour routes handy just a bit longer. Full Story
🏷️ No Sticker Shock—For Now Car Prices Steady in Springs

Although a 25% tariff on auto imports raised concerns earlier this year, local Colorado Springs dealerships report that car prices have largely remained stable. Some dealers experienced a short-term boost in sales due to consumer concerns, but pricing hasn’t spiked as expected.
Used car dealers also say their prices haven’t changed much, and while future changes in materials costs could impact prices, for now, the market is holding steady. Dealers say they’re ready to offer specials if needed to keep cars affordable. Full Story
🌱 This Garden Thrives on Almost No Water

What was once a parking lot off Mesa Rd is now a thriving hub of water-conscious beauty. The Water-Wise Demonstration Garden, created by Colorado Springs Utilities, features plants that flourish with little water with our local weather. It’s more than a pretty spot—it’s proof that you don’t need to sacrifice color or comfort to conserve.
Open to the public (and their dogs) year-round, the garden offers real-life landscape inspiration and advice to help residents make eco-smart choices in their own yards. The best part? Despite decades of city growth, our overall water use hasn't budged since the '80s! Full Story

🤔 "Should I Create an AI Account?" Your Privacy Questions Answered
👋 I wanted to share a question from an attendee at our recent AImagination Experience workshop:
"…regarding risks of creating an account with AI platforms. I've been using ChatGPT regularly but have no login because I don't know who has access… A lot of personal data is being uploaded and feels more private to have no login. What are your thoughts…?"
Privacy concerns are definitely top of mind for many of us. Here are 5 of my observations…
Privacy #3: 🔹 TERMS OF SERVICE
I know these are a pain to read (and honestly, who understands all the legal jargon anyway?), but it's worth scanning the highlights to try to understand how your data might be used. OpenAI and other companies do state that they use conversations to improve their models. AI is a "learning" model so it needs to "consume" all the input and accepted output to keep learning.
Stay tuned for tomorrow’s AI Privacy Concerns or get the full list in our new, FREE AI For Everyone Community.
