🤸 We Swung Big… and Missed

Trying to continue with our quest to be and stay known as Olympic City USA here’s some breaking news. Despite an all-hands-on-deck effort from local leaders, Colorado Springs won’t be the new headquarters for USA Gymnastics. The organization, currently based in Indianapolis, had been looking to consolidate its headquarters and training facilities ahead of the 2028 Olympics.
Our city put together an impressive pitch—complete with site visits and millions in potential incentives—but ultimately came in second place. While it’s a letdown, our community can still look forward to hosting USA Gymnastics competitions in the future. This was a major team effort, and Colorado Springs proved once again we’re a city that shows up and swings big. Full Story

September marks Workforce Development Month in Colorado, and this year brings a fresh statewide identity—Workforce Colorado—uniting 50+ centers under one name. These centers help connect job seekers with employment, assist businesses in hiring and training, and offer support through economic transitions.
Available events aim to support and uplift our local workforce as part of a broader effort to build a stronger economic future for all. Full Story
🚧 Detour Woes on South Nevada

If you’re traveling near South Nevada, South Tejon, or Fort Carson, be aware that resurfacing work on Hwy 115 is running behind schedule and will now continue through late Oct instead of Sept. The six-mile project is more than halfway done, with improvements like smoother pavement, updated medians, and pedestrian upgrades on the way.
However, business owners along the corridor report that the detours and closures have impacted customers and staff. CDOT attributes the delay to heavy rain but says progress is solid. Once done, the road should be much improved—so hang in there if you're navigating the mess. Full Story

✈️ TRIVIA: What Landmark Draws Visitors Worldwide?

US Air Force Academy Graduation 1962 (looks exactly like today’s graduation!)
Did you know the United States Air Force marked its 78th anniversary just last week, and Colorado Springs has been at the center of its story for over 70 years?
Which architectural landmark, featuring 17 spires and renowned for its modernist design, is the centerpiece of the Air Force Academy’s Cadet Area?
After a nationwide competition, our city was chosen as the home of the US Air Force Academy in 1954—a selection celebrated by local leaders as a turning point in Colorado’s history. The Academy’s cutting-edge campus and “iconic structure” are recognized nationally as architectural masterpieces, symbolizing the region’s deep military heritage and forward-thinking spirit.
The Air Force Academy has trained tens of thousands of officers, anchoring Colorado Springs as a key player in national defense and higher education. Today, it's not just a military landmark, but a destination that draws visitors from around the world.
