🚧 Water System Repairs = Lane Closures

Heads up if you’re driving on Austin Bluffs this week—crews from CSU are making important water system repairs that will affect traffic. Two eastbound lanes between American Dr and Academy will be closed through Fri, Oct 10 to replace a broken water valve and fire hydrant. The northernmost lane will stay open to keep things flowing, and all nearby businesses remain open during the work.
Westbound lanes near Meadowland and Brenner are already impacted due to ongoing substation upgrades, so plan for a few extra time and drive with care or choose an alternate route.

🧠Shutdown Hits Local Bases Hard

The federal government shutdown is creating strain across all major Colorado Springs-area military bases, where operations are being adjusted to maintain only essential services.
Schriever and Peterson Space Force Bases have closed many support programs, including family readiness, and civilian offices—though emergency assistance is still available.
The Air Force Academy is keeping classes running with military staff, but visitor services and cadet support shops are shut down.
At Fort Carson, community-facing programs like ACS have been paused, and hunting access has been suspended.
Multiple support lines, from Military One Source to local food banks and aid programs, are available for both service members and civilian employees during this uncertain time. Full Story
đź’‰ Real Weight Loss or Risk?

You’ve likely heard about Ozempic or Mounjaro by now—whether from celebrities, influencers, or local med spas—but what’s really going on behind the scenes with these so-called “miracle” weight loss drugs, especially the compounded versions showing up all over Colorado? Unlike name-brand prescriptions, compounded GLP-1 drugs are mixed in bulk or tailored for individuals, often sold at clinics or spas without clear FDA oversight.
While some say they offer fast-track weight loss and affordability, others are raising red flags about misleading marketing, inconsistent patient screening, and potential mental health risks—especially for those vulnerable to eating disorders. There’s also the concern that the real root causes of obesity may be getting ignored. With clinics offering different answers, pricing ranging from $200 to over $1,000, and the FDA no longer listing semaglutide as in shortage, this is a “buyer beware” moment worth pausing on. Even Colorado’s Attorney General is stepping in, urging more regulation. Whether you're curious, cautious, or caught in the craze—it's worth digging deeper. Full Story
