🚧 Downtown Closure This Week

Tejon Street will fully close between Colorado Ave and Kiowa starting today through Apr 24 as crews complete final paving, striping, and new crosswalk installations as part of the revitalization project. Pedestrian access will remain open, but drivers should expect detours and no on-street parking in the work zone.

At the same time, the Cache La Poudre St/Mesa Rd bridge is closing temporarily to all users while nearby construction moves forward. These projects may cause short-term inconvenience, but they’re part of ongoing improvements to some of Colorado Springs’ most used areas.

⚠️ This Jury Duty Scam Feels Real

A local resident is warning others after falling victim to a sophisticated scam involving someone posing as law enforcement. The caller claimed a missed jury summons had led to possible arrest and used fear, urgency, and secrecy to keep control of the situation for days. The victim was instructed to withdraw money and send it through cryptocurrency, resulting in a major financial loss and emotional distress.

The scam was only uncovered after a family member encouraged them to verify the claims with authorities. Officials say jury duty notices come through the mail, and no legitimate agency will demand payment over the phone. For many readers, the biggest takeaway may be this: if something feels urgent and isolating, stop and talk to someone you trust. Full Story

πŸ’š Celebrating Local Volunteers

Colorado Springs is taking a moment to celebrate the people who quietly make a big difference every day.

City Council has officially proclaimed April 19–25 as National Volunteer Week, recognizing the thousands of residents who give their time to help our community thrive. From caring for parks and trails to supporting youth programs and connecting kids with nature, volunteers help strengthen the places we all share.

In 2025 alone, volunteers contributed more than 135K hours of service. That kind of generosity helps keep our community welcoming, connected, and full of heart.

🎧 The Calm Trend Worth Trying

If your mind has felt overstimulated lately, this calming audio trend may be worth exploring.

A growing number of people are turning to 8D immersive soundscapes and EMDR-style music to help ease stress, quiet racing thoughts, and support relaxation. Using headphones, the audio creates a moving, surround-sound experience designed to feel more immersive than traditional music.

Supporters say it can help the nervous system shift out of stress mode and into a calmer state. While it’s not a replacement for professional care, many people are using it as a gentle tool for rest, focus, and emotional reset.

Remember, our Local Senior wellness educator Kristen Nielsen, founder of TogetherWon shares simple ways to gently train your brain and body together, helping you feel more confident about your balance over time.

I have to be honest, I’ve watch these myself and I am in constant admiration of how Kristen challenges us to be stronger in such simple ways. We are so fortunate to have her wisdom 2x per month here to help us navigate real life with confidence.
