Stop Losing Your Money. It's time to upgrade your trading platform.

Your current trading platform is probably letting you down

  • Limited assets (no international stocks, no commodities, no pre-IPO companies)

  • Limited ability to short

  • Limited access to leverage

  • Limited trading hours

Liquid is one of the fastest growing trading platforms, allowing users to trade stocks, commodities, FX, and more 24/7/365 from their phone and computer.

Trading on Liquid is as simple as:

  1. Pick an asset

  2. Pick long or short

  3. Pick your position size and leverage

  4. Place your trade

The best part is that Liquid markets never close. So no matter what is going on in the world, you are able to keep your portfolio positioned properly.

With great power…

🐢 The Pet Store Era Is Ending

A new Colorado law was just signed and will change how families bring home pets, with pet stores no longer allowed to sell or transfer ownership of dogs and cats starting Jan 1, 2027. The move is aimed at reducing harmful breeding practices often tied to large-scale operations and encouraging adoption through shelters and rescues.

Pet stores can still provide space for adoptable animals, but without profiting from the transactions. Direct sales from licensed breeders will still be allowed, along with specific exceptions for service animals, working dogs, and certain limited private sales. The shift reflects a broader effort to support animal welfare while helping more pets find safe, lasting homes.

πŸ₯³ New Chapter (and a Block Party!) for a Colorado Springs Institution

In a moment rich with symbolism, Richard Skorman recently passed a ceremonial pizza cutter to new owner Joe Cole, marking a historic transition for one of downtown's most beloved landmarks.

After nearly 50 years of nurturing Poor Richard's into a community cornerstone, Skorman and Patricia Seator have handed the keys to Colorado Springs locals Joe and Sarah Gibeau-Cole, who themselves grew up exploring the eclectic bookstore aisles.

"Poor Richard's isn't just a business, it's a living story written by generations of customers, employees, artists, musicians, families, and friends," say the Coles, who promise to uphold the values of inclusion, creativity, and community that have defined the establishment since 1975.

To honor Richard and Patricia's legacy and welcome this new era, Poor Richard's is taking over the street for a massive, free community celebration. For the founders, this isn't goodbye. It's simply "see you soon."

Join the Celebration:

  • When: This Sun, May 3, from 2pm to 6pm

  • Where: Downtown Colorado Springs (Tejon Street will be closed between Boulder and Platte)

  • The Fun: Live music featuring The Tejon Street Corner Thieves and Grapefruit Moon, plus community tributes and a chance to share memories with past and present owners. Also with fellow customers.

  • For the Kids: A dedicated family zone featuring a bounce house, face painting, crafts, and kiddie rides from the Manitou Penny Arcade.

Come share your memories, enjoy the music, and raise a slice to the next 50 years of Poor Richard's!

πŸ€” What Replaces LETAC?

City Council voted unanimously Tues to dissolve LETAC (Law Enforcement Transparency and Advisory Commission) formed in the wake of the 2019 killing of De'Von Bailey and the national attention around George Floyd. Mayor Yemi and Police Chief Vasquez put out a joint statement thanking the commissioners for their service and committing to create new ways for residents to engage directly with the Mayor's Office.

Councilmember Roland Rainey Jr., who served as LETAC's liaison, called it a "multi-tier comprehensive legislative efficacy review" and says the next step is a "warm handoff" of former commissioners to the Mayor's Office and Chief Vasquez to figure out a new path forward on community engagement.

Worth watching what that new structure actually looks like, and whether it ends being meaningful. We’ll have to wait and see.

πŸ’° Heads Up: Your Gas Bill Goes Up July 1

So this went through…City Council this week also approved the new monthly charge on residential gas bills to fund federally required natural gas pipeline safety upgrades. Starting July 1, you'll see an extra $8.54/month on your CSU gas bill running through 2029 as part of a roughly $90 million upgrade program.

Some small businesses along the North Side are pushing back, saying the extra costs are hitting at a tough time. The upgrades are federally mandated, so they're happening and the timing has people talking. Full Story

🍝 Creamy Farfalle with Cremini, Asparagus, and Walnuts

Recipe by Giada De Laurentiis

This creamy farfalle is one of those effortless weeknight dishes that tastes like you put in way more work than you did. The mascarpone melts into a silky sauce that hugs every bowtie, making the mushrooms and asparagus feel downright luxurious.
