Protection for Birds, a Gift for You
Since 1970, we have lost 3 billion birds in North America. Birds like the Snowy Owl are at increasing risk of extinction due to climate change. Birds are vital to healthy ecosystems - and their decline affects us all.
With over a century of conservation expertise, the National Audubon Society knows what it takes to protect the birds we love. And with your support today, we can.
Join us in protecting birds with a dependable, annual gift and we’ll send you our quarterly, award-winning magazine every year as our thanks.

😳 This Crime Is Surging, Disrupting Thousands

Metal thefts in Colorado Springs have doubled this year, costing CenturyLink over $400,000 and disrupting service for thousands of residents. Thieves target copper from utility boxes, often damaging fiber optic cables in the process. The company is using cable trackers in hopes to catch thieves.
Also, officials are encouraging businesses and residents to stay alert, report suspicious activity, and consider added security measures as the trend continues to grow. Full Story

🌱 Did Your Plants Make It?

After another hard spring freeze rolled through Colorado Springs, many gardeners are stepping outside today wondering the same thing: Did my plants survive?
Local experts say the first signs of freeze damage usually show up on the outer edges of plants, where leaves may turn brown, thin, or almost translucent. But don’t panic too quickly as many plants are tougher than they look, and if there’s still healthy growth lower on the stem or near the base, there’s a good chance they can recover.
Gardeners are encouraged to trim away damaged areas, protect vulnerable plants with covers or mulch during cold nights, and give things a little time before assuming the worst. The good news? Warmer spring weather is returning soon. Full Story

📺 The End of an Era That Impacted Your Life

Love him or hate him, it’s hard to deny Ted Turner changed the way all of us experience television, news, sports, and even cartoons.
The outspoken media pioneer behind CNN has died at age 87, leaving behind a legacy that shaped daily life for generations. Turner launched the world’s first 24-hour news network in 1980, forever changing how people followed breaking news around the globe. His growing media empire eventually included TNT, Cartoon Network, Turner Classic Movies, and the Atlanta Braves.
In later years, Turner turned much of his focus toward conservation, philanthropy, and preserving wildlife across millions of acres of land. While his larger-than-life personality often sparked controversy, his impact on media, culture, and the modern news cycle is impossible to ignore. Full Story

🐔 Chicken Piccata

Recipe by skinnytastes
Mother's Day weekend starts tonight and this is the dinner to kick it off. Chicken piccata is a one-pan Italian classic: golden pan-fried chicken in a silky lemon-caper-butter sauce that comes together in under 30 minutes. Elegant enough to feel special, easy enough for a weeknight. Serve over pasta or with crusty bread.
