💈 The West Side’s Best Kept Secret Is Out

👀 You’ll want to see what’s really happening...
If you have walked down West Colorado Ave lately, you might have noticed the new energy at number 605. It is not just the hum of clippers that draws people in; it is the feeling of a space built by someone who knows that where you start doesn't have to define where you end up.
Anne Frazier’s journey to this storefront was a long, winding road. Growing up between Manitou and the west side of Colorado Springs as the daughter of a single father raising four kids, she navigated a childhood defined by poverty and a desperate search for belonging. By age 14, she was searching for that connection in all the wrong places, eventually finding herself caught in the grip of addiction. That struggle defined her early years, until she enrolled in barber school, here one instructor who saw potential where she saw only uncertainty. He encouraged her to pursue the craft, and in doing so, he helped her rewrite her narrative.
Fifteen years later, Anne is a master barber, a woman in long-term recovery, and the proud owner of a shop that reflects every chapter of her story. The craft keeps her grounded. She views the chair not just as a place for a haircut, but as a space where a fresh start is always possible.
In April 2026, Anne expanded into this larger, light-filled space. The Stache Spot Barbershop balances a modern, open aesthetic with an artsy warmth, showcasing local makers through handmade candles, honey, leather goods, and striking Colorado flag art. More than just a shop, it is evolving into a community hub…a place where art classes, book clubs, and sobriety meetings have found a home, offering a genuine gathering space for anyone walking the road she knows so well.

Stop by 605 West Colorado Ave to see the new shop for yourself. Whether you’re due for a sharp, classic cut or just want to see what the community is talking about, there’s a seat waiting for you. Book your appointment at thestachespot.co, call 719-651-2206, or check Facebook for the latest happenings.

✈️ That Plane Flying Over COS? It's Mapping America's Future

For the past several days, a NASA ER-2 aircraft has been lifting off from Colorado Springs Airport. The ER-2 is essentially a civilian type of U-2 spy plane. It has a special hyperspectral camera that reads how light reflects off the ground, detecting the precise mineral composition of the rocks below.
The goal? To map what's actually in the ground across the entire American West such as minerals, metals, energy resources, even landslide risk. This is the largest airborne survey ever conducted. It raises a fascinating question for all of us: What if America's energy and mineral independence was quietly being charted from right here in Colorado Springs? And when we find those deposits, how do we tap them responsibly? Full Story

🐑 Bighorn Lambs Are Arriving

The Rampart Range bighorn sheep herd, considered one of the most important herds in all of Colorado, is right in the middle of lambing season. The ewes have moved into the rocky terrain of Pikeview Quarry to give birth, where they feel safest. This sensitive window runs April through July, peaking right now in mid-to-late May.
Colorado Parks & Wildlife is asking the public to give them space. Make sure you stay on trails, keep dogs leashed/away from the sheep, and absolutely no drones overhead. A stressed ewe can abandon her lamb. These animals are a treasure, and this is their most vulnerable time of year. Full Story
