Community Meetings are like Netflix shows
👉they start with a promising premise, drag on for too many episodes, and end with everyone wondering what just happened 🤣

😠 Tempers Erupt Over Data Center

As anticipated, tensions ran high last night as more than 500 residents packed a community meeting over the proposed Project Taurus AI data center near Garden of the Gods Road.
What was expected to be another informational meeting quickly turned emotional, with shouting, jeers, and frustrated residents repeatedly challenging company leaders over noise concerns, energy demands, water usage, military connections, and the decision to place the project so close to neighborhoods. Several attendees openly questioned whether this type of large-scale industrial project belongs near homes at all.
The California-based developer, Raeden, attempted to reassure the crowd by discussing local construction jobs, utility agreements, and the facility’s closed-loop cooling system. But many residents remained unconvinced.
The meeting made one thing very clear: opposition in the surrounding neighborhoods is growing louder, more organized, and far more emotional than city leaders may have anticipated. Full Story

🥾 Walk, Paddle & Unwind

Courtesy of Amber M on Google
If you’re looking for an easy outdoor escape without leaving the city, Quail Lake Park continues to be one of Colorado Springs’ quiet little spots.
Tucked along the southwest side of town, the park blends mountain views, open water, and plenty of space to unwind. Whether you’re walking the paved lake loop, fishing for trout, paddling across the water, or simply sitting on a bench watching the sunset hit Cheyenne Mountain, it’s the kind of place that makes you forget you’re still in the middle of the city.
Families love the playgrounds and picnic areas, while runners, dog walkers, and cyclists enjoy the scenic 1-mile trail around the lake. With ducks, geese, herons, and beautiful Front Range views almost everywhere you look, it’s also become a favorite local spot for birdwatching and photography.
Location: 915 Cheyenne Meadows Road, Colorado Springs, CO 80906
Parking: On-site paved parking lot near the lake and trail access.
Hours: Dawn to dusk, year-round.
Tips: Bring your fishing gear or a paddleboard to make the most of the lake. Leashed dogs are welcome, and the paved loop makes the park accessible for wheelchairs and strollers.
