😱 From Setback To New Beginnings

⚱ Rhonda Lee Pottery Finds a New Home
Step into the soothing, earthy atmosphere of Rhonda Lee Pottery, where cool clay spins into beautiful, everyday art. Since 1976, Rhonda has dedicated her life to transforming simple earth into functional pieces you can actually prep with, serve from, and enjoy at your own dinner table.
At her Northeast Colorado Springs studio on Montarbor Dr, she offers intimate private and semi private lessons. Learning to master the pottery wheel is a delightful, engaging puzzle of coordination. It is a bit like patting your head and rubbing your stomach at the same time. However, Rhonda removes all the pressure to be perfect. Her classes are filled with grace and humor. If a student's pot suddenly decides to take a comedic leap off the wheel, it does not cause frustration. Instead, it becomes a shared laugh and a cherished memory between friends.

Recently, life threw an unexpected curveball. The Painted Tree retail space closed its doors without any warning, leaving local vendors like Rhonda scrambling to find new homes for their handcrafted work.
Nevertheless, working with clay teaches a resilience. Rhonda adapted beautifully and is now bringing her exquisite pottery to The Love Shop in Monument. Right now, you can find her charming leaf spoon rests, pine tree business card holders, and practical sponge holders on their shelves. She is even crafting special mountain and pine tree themed pieces exclusively for this new space.
Visit The Love Shop to hold these beautiful pieces in your own hands. Check out her Etsy shop, Facebook page…or better yet, book a cozy, laughter filled lesson with Rhonda. Email [email protected] to sit at the wheel and create your very own masterpiece.

🏠 The City Spent Millions on Housing and Homelessness

Now You Get to Grade Them.
Every year, the City of Colorado Springs receives federal funding through programs like the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), HOME Investment Partnerships, and Emergency Solutions Grants to address housing and homelessness. And every year, the city must file a report with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development summarizing what it actually did with that money.
That report is called the CAPER, or Consolidated Annual Performance Evaluation Report, and right now the city's Housing and Homelessness Response Department is asking the public to read it and weigh in before it goes to Washington.
If you care about how our city is addressing homelessness and housing affordability, this is your chance to say so on the record. The comment window is open now through June 16, 2026. You can review the draft report online, pick up a physical copy at the City Clerk's office at 30 S. Nevada Ave., Suite 101, or submit your comments by:
📧 Email: [email protected]
📞 Phone: (719) 385-5912
📬 Mail: 30 S. Nevada Ave., Suite 701, Colorado Springs, CO 80903
Comments must reference the 2025 CAPER to be considered. This is not a petition or a protest. It is the official public comment process, and your voice is part of the permanent record. Read the full notice here.

🐢 Slowing Down Near Schools, Here’s Where

Part 2 of 4: Safe Streets COS. Yesterday: traffic circles. Today: speed tables.
As part of the Safe Streets COS program, the city is installing nine rubber speed tables at locations where pedestrians, especially children, are most at risk from speeding drivers. These bumps are designed to bring vehicles down to a safer speed near schools, parks, and popular community destinations.
📍 Speed Table Locations:
Quail Lake Rd south of Quail Lake
Broadmoor Valley Rd near Broadmoor Valley Park
Pikes Peak Ave near Buena Vista Montessori School
Farnsworth Dr near Bricker Elementary School
Springnite Dr near Turman Elementary School
Monica Dr near Deerfield Park and Turman Elementary
Havenwood Dr near Woodmen Trail East Crossing
Fenton Rd near Panorama Park parking lot
West Woodmen Rd near Marshall Sprague Park
All installations are temporary and funded through a federal Safe Streets and Roads for All grant. The city will collect before-and-after data, and successful projects will be considered for permanent installation. Full program at ColoradoSprings.gov/SafeStreetsCOS.
👉 Tomorrow, Part 3: The city is putting up 18 speed feedback signs on roads where speeding is linked to the most crashes. We will show you exactly where they are going and why those streets were chosen.
