Bird feeders are like social media for wildlife

🚒 Engine 3 Is Gone, Firefighters Recovering

Saturday morning, a Colorado Springs fire engine responding to a medical call was struck by a tour bus at Tejon and Bijou, downtown. Four firefighters were transported to local hospitals with injuries. Five of the seven bus passengers were also taken in for evaluation and treatment. The engine sustained significant damage and has been declared a total loss. Additional CSFD personnel were called in. No information on the outcome of the medical call they were heading to either.

This is a good reminder of what our first responders face every single day. They are out on these streets at a moment's notice, moving fast through traffic, sometimes getting the worst of it. CSPD's Major Crash Team is investigating and will release additional information. Our firefighters and everyone involved are in our thoughts as they recover.

🐦 The Best Show is in Your Yard

Birdfy Duo

If you have a bird feeder in your yard, you are going to want to hear this. Wild Birds Unlimited Colorado Springs just expanded their Smart Bird Feeding collection, and the new arrivals are genuinely impressive. The star of the lineup is the Birdfy Duo, a feeder with two cameras that captures stunning close-up views and photos of every backyard visitor. It just won Smart Bird Feeder of the Year from the Wild Bird Feeding Institute, the same group that named Wild Birds Unlimited Retailer of the Year.

New additions also include a Birdfy Smart Bird Bath with a crystal-clear camera, a Smart Hummingbird Feeder that mounts right onto their pole systems, and the popular BeakView feeder, now at a lower price and with a solar panel included. Already have a feeder you love? The FeatherCam is a standalone camera that adds smart capabilities to virtually any existing setup. Stop by the store and see it all in person at 2450 Montebello Square Dr, COS.

🥔 What Was Really Hovering Over Cheyenne Mountain

Courtesy DOD (Rendering)

In February 2022, five US Army soldiers stationed at Fort Carson stepped outside on a clear morning and saw something hovering over Cheyenne Mountain. Not a drone, not a plane. A potato-shaped object described as creamy white, opalescent, covered in irregular fish-scale-like panels, just sitting motionless in the sky. It stayed there for about two minutes. Then it vanished.

The incident is now officially part of the Pentagon's third wave of declassified UFO documents, released Friday under the President’s disclosure directive. An FBI report includes a DOD rendering of what the soldiers described. None of the men had their phones. No video exists. Investigators offered a low-confidence theory about sunlight reflecting off snow. The soldiers said the sky was completely clear. Full Story

🚽 Help for a Common Problem
