Former CBI DNA analyst Yvonne "Missy" Woods pleaded guilty to four felony charges tied to evidence and data manipulation during her time at the Colorado Bureau of Investigation.

The case has local significance because prosecutors previously identified 75 potentially affected cases in El Paso and Teller Counties. Investigators found Woods altered or omitted testing information and failed to follow proper DNA lab procedures, though they found no evidence she fabricated DNA matches. She faces up to 16 years in prison and is scheduled for sentencing Sept 8. Read more

Drivers in northeast Colorado Springs encountered an unexpected road closure last night after a water main break caused a sinkhole on Montbello Drive West.

The affected area is between Fiesta Ln and Descanso Cir near N Union, where crews closed the road in both directions while responding to the damage. Colorado Springs Utilities says some nearby residents may also experience water outages as repairs are underway.

There is currently no timeline for when the roadway will reopen or when water service will be fully restored. Read more
