π€ Your Say On Big Plans for City Growth

The City of Colorado Springs is asking residents to weigh in on a new draft plan that could influence how and where the city grows in the future.
The proposed AnnexCOS plan is essentially a guidebook for deciding whether land outside city limits should be brought into Colorado Springs. It outlines factors city leaders would consider before approving future growth, including roads, utilities, traffic, housing, and the long-term cost to taxpayers.
City officials say community feedback helped shape the draft, and now they're asking residents to take a look and share their thoughts before the plan moves forward.

β‘ The Future Of Your Power Bill?

Colorado Springs Utilities is looking ahead to a future of higher energy demand and continued population growth. During its annual State of the Utilities event, leaders discussed ongoing investments in electrical infrastructure, including new substations and grid upgrades meant to keep the system from falling behind the city's needs. Officials also reinforced their push to cut electricity use during peak demand periods, arguing it helps avoid costly system expansions down the road.
Looking further out, CSU raised the possibility of nuclear power becoming part of the city's long-term energy strategy. It's a big idea floated during a stretch when residents have already been closely watching utility decisions, from peak-hour pricing and rate changes to conservation requests and leadership pay.
So with another major announcement now on the table: are these investments preparing Colorado Springs for the future, or are utility customers being asked to shoulder too much change too quickly? Full Story
