🤫 The Secret Behind Our Most Requested Feature Ever
☕ Once you meet Amanda owner of Tea & Tidbits, you'll get it
There is a rare, simple joy in slowing down to share a hot pot of tea and a plate of sweet treats with someone you love. At Tea & Tidbits, that beautiful tradition is alive and well, served with a side of genuine local warmth.
You asked for this one. Tea & Tidbits is the most frequently requested business our readers wanted us to feature, and after sitting down with owner Amanda Courtright, we completely understand why.
Amanda is a Colorado Springs native who has always had a gift for bringing people together around a table. What started as elaborate themed dinners for friends and family grew into something bigger. She enrolled in culinary school to sharpen her craft, launched a popular catering business in 2018, and by late 2024, she opened the doors to her contemporary tea room called Tea & Tidbits at Carefree and Academy.

This is not your grandmother's stuffy tea room. Show up in your favorite dress or your comfiest jeans. Either way, you will be greeted like family. The menu is scratch-made and constantly evolving. Amanda's culinary training shines in dishes like her peach basil chicken salad, and her mom, Clare, comes in to bake her famous chocolate ribbon cake. It is truly a family affair.
This summer, Amanda launched "Postcards from America," a creative series featuring regional menus that change every 2 weeks and matching collectible postcards. But that is just one example of how she keeps things fresh. The menu rotates quarterly, built around whatever seasonal ingredients are at their peak, so there is always a new reason to come back.
The community has already shown its love by voting Tea & Tidbits "Best of the Springs" Gold.

🚫 Burn Ban in Effect 🔥
Colorado Springs is now under a full burn ban, the highest level of fire restriction. Prolonged dry weather, high temperatures, and multiple wildfires across Colorado have created conditions where one spark can ignite a fast-moving fire. With firefighting resources already stretched thin statewide, every one of us can help.
What’s prohibited during the burn ban:
Outdoor cooking with wood, charcoal, or pellet fuels
Outdoor wood-burning fireplaces and fire pits
Campfires and recreational fires
Outdoor smoking in City parks and open spaces
Chainsaws and small engines without a spark arrestor
And a reminder: recreational fireworks are always illegal in Colorado Springs and are especially dangerous right now. Please skip them this July 4th and help keep our neighborhoods, parks, and first responders safe.

🌄 Pikes Peak July 4th Experience

If you’ve ever thought about spending Independence Day at 14,115 feet, this is the year to do it. Colorado Springs is offering new Pikes Peak experiences for July 4th, including a spectacular sunset viewing from the summit. This is one of the most breathtaking views in the entire country, especially with fireworks lighting up the city below.
Important: Pikes Peak requires timed entry reservations, and July 4th slots fill up fast. If you’re planning to head up, book your spot now before they’re gone. The highway is managed to protect the experience and limit congestion at the summit.
There’s also a range of family-friendly activities and new experiences at the summit this season. Whether you’ve lived here for decades or just moved to the Springs, making it to the top on the 4th is a bucket-list moment worth planning for.

👵 Silver Key Food Drive This Week

Silver Key Senior Services is holding The Bountiful Pantry community food drive through July 3 for older adults in the Colorado Springs and Monument area. If you’ve got non-perishable items sitting in your pantry, this is a great way to put them to good use before the holiday weekend.
Silver Key serves thousands of seniors in our community each year through meal delivery, transportation, and other essential services. Food donations go directly to helping homebound and food-insecure older adults right here in El Paso County.
What to donate: canned goods, pasta, rice, peanut butter, and other shelf-stable items. Every little bit counts as a full pantry shelf can make a real difference for a neighbor in need.
