🎆 Well...Now What?

Colorado Springs had already cancelled all seven of its July 4th fireworks shows and now the Ford Amphitheater's Star-Spangled Symphony, which was the last major show still standing in the region, has been postponed to a date TBD.
Pueblo, Cañon City, Woodland Park, Cripple Creek, Palmer Lake, and Rocky Ford all cancelled their shows too. The culprit: the Aspen Acres Fire burning just 45 miles away and extreme fire weather conditions across the region.
Meanwhile, currently the El Paso County commissioners took no action to restrict personal fireworks, citing an ordinance that protects fireworks sales through July 5 and requires a full commission vote to change. This all creates confusion. Full Story
A statement from El Paso county says: With wildfire danger remaining high across the Pikes Peak region, El Paso County officials are asking everyone to celebrate Independence Day safely. Stage II Fire Restrictions remain in effect, and while some small, ground-based fireworks are still legal in unincorporated El Paso County, officials strongly encourage residents to use extra caution.
Fireworks that fly, explode, or leave the ground, including bottle rockets, Roman candles, firecrackers, and mortars…are illegal for personal use in Colorado. Law enforcement will have increased patrols throughout the holiday weekend, and violations can result in fines, jail time, or additional penalties if a fire or injury occurs.
If you choose to use legal ground-based fireworks, do so only in cleared areas, keep water nearby, and skip them altogether if Red Flag Warnings or strong winds are in effect. With conditions this dry, it is advised to not use any fireworks to protect our community.

🚗 Safety Tips When Driving Near A Wildfire

With wildfires continuing to burn across Colorado, Colorado State Patrol is reminding drivers that the safest choice is to avoid fire areas whenever possible. If you know a wildfire is near your route, leave early, check for road closures, and choose an alternate route if one is available.
If you must drive through smoky conditions, keep your windows up, switch your vehicle's ventilation to recirculate, turn on your headlights (not high beams), and slow down. Smoke can reduce visibility quickly, and drivers should watch for emergency vehicles, wildlife, falling debris, and changing road conditions.
Once you're safely away from the area, inspect your vehicle for ash buildup or damage before continuing your trip. As fire season ramps up across the Pikes Peak region, officials say it's always better to leave early than wait until conditions become dangerous. Full Story

🥒 Fried Pickle Dip

Recipe by eating bird food
Okay, we know this one sounds a little weird. But hear us out: with the grill officially off-limits this holiday weekend, dips are having a moment. And this one is apparently going viral.
This creamy, tangy dip has a cottage cheese and Greek yogurt base, packed with finely chopped dill pickles, pickle juice, and dried dill — then finished with a crispy toasted panko crunch that makes it impossible to stop eating.
