Happy Fourth of July, Colorado Springs! 🎆
From my family to yours, wishing you a wonderful Independence Day celebration! Today we honor the freedoms we enjoy and the community we are blessed to call home.
Colorado Springs holds a special place on this holiday. We live beneath Pikes Peak, America's Mountain, and call this Olympic City USA home. Whether you're spending the day with family, watching celebrations, or simply enjoying a beautiful Colorado summer day, I hope your Fourth of July is filled with joy, gratitude, and community spirit.
Thank you for being a part of the Colorado Springs Town Tidings community. It truly takes a village, and you are ours.

🔥 Aspen Acres Fire: Evacuees Need Your Help

Southern Colorado's Aspen Acres Fire has grown to over 81,000+ acres with zero containment, forcing thousands of evacuees from Colorado City and Wetmore. Families, pets, and livestock all need support right now.

Care and Share Food Bank (2605 Preamble Point, Colorado Springs) is accepting easy-to-open, shelf-stable foods, pop-top cans, and granola bars for evacuees. Note: the Colorado Springs location is closed July 4 & 5, will reopen again on Monday.
The United Way of Southern Colorado has a relief fund and donation center at 1591 Taos Road, Building D, Pueblo (open 7am-7pm daily). The American Red Cross has an evacuation shelter at the Pueblo County Recreation Center.

🇺🇸 The Story America Is Still Writing
Mayor Yemi shared a heartfelt letter to Colorado Springs residents marking America's 250th birthday. As a naturalized citizen and the city's first elected Black mayor, he writes that America is both an extraordinary blessing and a promise still being fulfilled, and calls on every resident to help write the next chapter.
"America has never been defined by the absence of challenges. America has always been defined by how we respond to them." He closes with the timeless words of George Washington: "We should never despair. Our situation before has been unpromising and has changed for the better. So I trust, it will again."
