π± This Might Ruin Hotel Stays For You Forever
π¦ Cozy retreats, big dreams, and 7.5 acres of what's next
We all know the feeling of needing a reset. The daily grind in Colorado Springs can wear you down, and sometimes the best remedy is a change of scenery. But instead of the usual travel hassles, imagine a getaway that feels like stepping into a friend's home.
That is exactly what Anja and Frank Wynne, along with their children Ceara and Liam, and daughter-in-law Mek, are building together.
This is not a story about a hospitality corporation. It is a story about a local family who believes that where you stay matters just as much as where you go. Anja, retired from both the Air Force and Army, is the big-picture visionary. Mek, who married into the family and has become the heartbeat of daily operations, keeps every detail on track and every guest cared for, while adding her own creative spark to the mix.
Together, they are a force. And that balance of vision and follow-through shows up in every space they create.
You can feel it the moment you walk into one of their homes. Their retreats in Breckenridge and Santa Fe are curated with the same care they would use for their own family gatherings. Every rug, every piece of art, every thoughtful little detail was chosen with intention. These are not cookie-cutter rentals. They are warm, layered spaces that reflect the family's own love for travel and design.

Familie Wynne HΓΌtte - Breckenridge
For those needing something more long-term, their property in Denver's LoDo neighborhood offers a beautifully appointed home base for stays of 30 days or more, perfect for relocations, extended work trips, or life's in-between moments.
But the chapter they are writing right now, just up the road in Monument, is one to watch. Picture 7.5 acres of Colorado land being transformed into a gathering place for weddings, family reunions, girls' trips, and every kind of celebration in between. Picture it dotted with unique stays and designed to hold the moments that matter most. Here is the part that gets me even more excited: this land is a registered Monarch Waystation and a certified wildlife habitat, meaning the Wynne family is not just building on the land, they are building with it. It is a sanctuary for people and for the pollinators, birds, and wildlife who call it home.
When you choose to stay with the Wynne family, you are not just booking a room. You are stepping into a space that was built with intention, heart, and a genuine desire to give you somewhere to truly exhale and unwind with all the comforts of home.
If you are ready for your next escape, explore their retreats in Breckenridge, Santa Fe, and Denver. Also follow along as they bring their vision in Monument to life. (Something tells me you are going to want a front-row seat for this one.)
I'm already checking my calendar for my own getaway, so don't be surprised if I beat you to the booking! π

π³οΈ You'll Vote on This Tax

El Paso County Commissioners have voted to place Issue 1A on the Nov ballot, asking voters whether to continue the existing 0.23% Public Safety sales tax first approved in 2012. The tax generates about $40 million annually to support the El Paso County Sheriff's Office and other public safety needs, including deputies, jail operations, emergency communications, training, patrol vehicles, equipment, and wildfire prevention and response.
County officials say the funding has helped keep pace with the region's rapid growth. The decision now moves to voters, who will decide in Nov whether the tax should continue.
π· Where's All This Smoke From?

The smoky skies hanging over Colorado Springs this week are the result of wildfire smoke blowing in from large fires in Utah, Idaho, Oregon, and Washington, not from fires burning here in Colorado. The haze has led to air quality alerts across much of the state, reducing visibility and affecting breathing conditions. Health officials recommend limiting strenuous outdoor activity when smoke is heavy, particularly for children, older adults, and people with heart or respiratory conditions.
Forecasters expect some gradual improvement in near-surface smoke, but additional smoke is likely to continue drifting into Colorado over the next several days, meaning hazy skies may linger a little while longer. Full Story
