I'm 63 With $1.5M. Can I Spend $10K a Month?

You’ve saved $1.5 million. Now comes the real test.

Can it produce $10,000 a month, or will that pace drain your portfolio?

Most retirees do not get a clear answer until it is too late.

The issue is not just how much you have. It is whether your portfolio was built to pay you, not just grow.

That difference can determine whether your money lasts decades or starts breaking down early.

Sequence of returns, taxes on withdrawals, healthcare costs, and whether the 4% rule still applies all play a role.

Fiduciary advisors created a breakdown showing what drives sustainable income and why the same $1.5M can produce very different outcomes.

If you have $1M or more invested, do not guess.

Teacher: how did our grandparents spend time without smartphones or internet?

👉 Student: I've already asked my mom, her 5 brothers and 7 sisters!! 😂

🚗 73% of Car Seats Are Wrong. Is Yours?

Whether you're buckling in little ones for the first day of school or getting the car seat ready for the grandkids to ride with you, there's a number worth knowing: nearly 3 out of 4 car seats in Colorado were installed or used incorrectly last year. That's statistic barely budged despite updated laws and widespread public awareness efforts.

Colorado recently tightened its child passenger safety rules. Kids now need to stay in a car seat or booster until at least age 9 (up from 8). Children under 2 must ride rear-facing. Every passenger under 18 must be buckled up, or the driver can be pulled over on the spot. Fit matters too: the lap belt belongs across the upper thighs, and the shoulder belt should cross the center of the chest, not the neck.

The good news is that free car seat check events. They check installation, adjust harnesses, and confirm the seat fits your child's current size. Families who need help with the cost may qualify for a free or low-cost seat through local programs including SafeKids Colorado Springs. Visit CarSeatsColorado.com to find local inspection stations and register your seat for recall alerts.

🚌 Greener Buses Head Back to School

Harrison School District 2 is doing something no other school district in the Pikes Peak region has done: switching its school buses from diesel to propane. Four buses are already running the routes, and the district plans to replace about three diesel buses per year as the fleet grows.

The cost savings are significant. Each propane bus runs about $40,000 less than a diesel model, and that gap adds up fast for a district watching every dollar. Propane also burns cleaner than diesel, meaning students are breathing better air on every ride to and from school.

It's a quiet change that makes a real difference: cleaner air, lower costs, and a local district leading the way on something genuinely new for this region. Harrison D2 is the first in the Pikes Peak area to make the switch, and the results so far have been promising. Full Story

🐾 TRIVIA: Why Did Everyone Come Back After This?

Did you know Bear Creek Nature Center has started over more than once? This Saturday, the little nature center tucked beneath the foothills turns 50, but its story is bigger than one building. It began in 1976 as the Solar Trails Center, Colorado's first nature center, created to help locals discover the natural world practically in their own backyard. Four years later, it took the name we know today: Bear Creek Nature Center.

For generations of Springs kids, it has been the place where a walk in the woods became a first encounter with a fox track, a hummingbird, a snake, or a creek full of life. It gave families a reason to slow down, look closely, and remember that the foothills are not just the view outside our windows. They are home.

1976

Question: On what date did the original Solar Trails Center open?

Then, in May 2000, an early-morning arson fire destroyed the center. It could have been the end of the story. Instead, the community rallied. Bear Creek Nature Center reopened in May 2002, rebuilt in an expanded form and rededicated to the people of El Paso County the following month.

1980 Outreach

That comeback is part of why its 50th anniversary feels personal. The center still invites us outdoors, now with programs designed to make nature more accessible, including its Trailability Program and V.I.P. Trail. This Saturday's celebration is not just a birthday party. It is a thank-you to a place that has helped our community notice, protect, and love the landscape we call home.
