Little Known RMD Strategy Allowed By The IRS

You're 65+ with $500K saved. The IRS decides how much you withdraw. Most retirees won't know how costly that is until the tax bill.

The IRS doesn't care how it's invested. It only cares how it's withdrawn. Order and timing matter.

Ask an Advisor, don't let the IRS decide.

I opened my water and electric bills simultaneously...

πŸ‘‰Needless to say, I was shocked πŸ˜‚

❀️ A Day We Promised to Remember

Courtesy of Colorado Springs Fire Fighters Facebook page

It’s hard to believe 25 years have passed since September 11, 2001. This year, Colorado Springs is inviting our community to come together for a special ceremony to remember the nearly 3,000 lives lost and honor the first responders whose sacrifices continued long after that day.

The ceremony will be held at the IAFF Fallen Fire Fighter Memorial in Memorial Park. One particularly personal moment will remember retired CSFD Capt. Patrick Rogacki, who deployed to Ground Zero and later died from cancer attributed to his service at the World Trade Center site. His brother will share reflections about his life and service.

The remembrance will include CSFD and CSPD honor guards, the national anthem, remarks from local leaders and a wreath laying. A piece of steel recovered from the World Trade Center will also be on display, offering a tangible connection to a day that changed so many lives.

😒 Another Local Café Saying Goodbye

Courtesy of James Flint via Google

It’s always tough to share another local business goodbye, especially when it’s a place that has been part of our community for more than a decade.

Rock City Cafe, at 1812 Dominion Way, has announced it will permanently close after 11 years in business. The owners shared the difficult news with customers this week, thanking everyone who has supported the diner over the years, including many who have been with them for the long haul.

Their last day will be Friday, Sept. 11, so there’s still a little time to stop in for another meal, show them some love and say goodbye before they close their doors. Open Tues-Sun 7:30am-2pm until 2pm Sept 11 when they close the doors for good.

πŸ’‘ CSU Explains Energy Bill, Does It Add Up?

If you’ve opened your Colorado Springs Utilities bill lately and thought, β€œWait…how did it get THAT high?” you’re definitely not the only one asking questions.

After a summer of higher bills and growing frustration from customers, Colorado Springs Utilities is trying to break down what actually goes into your electric bill. In a new video, CSU explains three main pieces: Access Charges, the Electric Cost Adjustment and the Capacity Charge, along with how its Energy Wise rate works and where shifting electricity use may help lower costs.

The explanation comes as customers continue to question higher bills and call for more transparency. CSU has pointed to factors including hotter weather, increased electricity use, Energy Wise summer rates and annual rate adjustments.

So rather than try to explain CSU’s explanation, click here to watch the video so you can hear it directly from them and decide for yourself whether it makes your bill, and those charges, a little clearer.
