You’ll experience the National Museum of World War II Aviation in a completely different way. The guides bring the history behind the aircraft and artifacts to life, including stories and details many of us have probably never heard. When I visited, my guide, Major Tom, was an incredible storyteller, and I walked away fascinated by how much of the history inside those hangars I simply didn’t know.
There will be heavy appetizers and drinks, so you can grab something to eat, mingle and enjoy the evening.
There’s also a live raffle with some pretty incredible prizes, including something involving a B-25 that I’m still not going to spoil here. 😉
And finally, our Town Tidings family will actually be together in one room. We read the same newsletter every morning, but most of us have never met. Saturday night, we get to change that.

🏡 Finally, Affordable Homes for SE COS
Southeast Colorado Springs is getting something it has needed for a long time. Jet Wing Flats, a new development near Jet Wing Dr and Chelton, will bring roughly 70 affordable apartments to the area through a $23 million partnership between Solid Rock Community Development Corporation, Common Wealth Development, and Greccio Housing.
Construction began in January, with completion expected spring 2027. Units range from 1BR to 3BR, with rents starting around $650/month for those at the lower income threshold. To qualify, households need to fall between 30-80% of Area Median Income (roughly $34,000-$90,000/year for a family of four).
On-site support services will include budgeting classes, food assistance, and first-time homebuyer programs. The interest list opens about 90 days before the property is ready. Full Story
📈 Mortgage Rates: Will They Drop?
If you have been watching mortgage rates, this month brought more of the same. The Federal Reserve raised its benchmark rate another quarter point in September, pushing the federal funds rate to a range of 3.75%-4.0%. As a result, the 30-year fixed rate now sits at 6.77% and the 15-year at 5.95%.
The good news is most experts see some easing ahead. Fannie Mae projects 30-year rates will settle around 6.4% for the rest of 2026. The Mortgage Bankers Association sees rates around 6.5% by year-end. A Reuters poll of housing specialists calls for a modest dip to 6.3% by Q4. If the home works for your budget today, most advisors say the same thing: don't count on rates dropping dramatically in the near term. Full Story
