Local artist Ivy Ng (of Ivywild Studio) is hosting one of those small, cozy watercolor nights that sneak up on you and end up being the best part of your week. It's beginner-friendly, totally unpretentious, and honestly? It might be the most relaxed you'll feel in a while.
Here's the thing most people don't realize: watercolor feels tricky because nobody ever showed you how it actually works. Ivy walks you through it in a small group of 4 to 8 people, sharing the kind of real, personal tips you won't find in a random YouTube video. She's warm, she's patient, and she makes the whole thing feel less like a class and more like painting with a friend who happens to be really good at this.

🥾 Have You Found This Forest Escape?
Recent trip from our friend Health of Colorado Fan Club, he hiked inside Black Forest, just northeast of Colorado Springs, at The Pineries Open Space. This is one of those places that quietly earns a spot on your must-visit list. At roughly 1,070 acres, it spans the Palmer Divide with ponderosa pines, open meadows, wetlands, and on a clear day, sweeping views of Pikes Peak.
Most of the land is permanently protected by a conservation easement. It was once part of the sprawling 16,000-acre Farrar Ranch, with conservation efforts dating back to 1985 eventually bringing it into the El Paso County park system. The area took a heavy hit during the Black Forest Fire of 2013, but it recovered, and reopened to the public in June 2020.
Today you can hike, mountain bike, or ride horseback across about 9 miles of trails, including a full loop with a scenic overlook. The terrain is easy to moderate, making it a great all-day outing. Dogs are welcome on leash.
