🏡 A Little Help Getting Home
Remember the feeling of turning the key in your very first front door? For so many of our kids, grandkids and the young families down the street, that moment feels further away every year. Prices keep climbing, rent eats up the paycheck, and saving for a down payment can take years.
That's the heart behind Pikes Peak Housing Network. This local nonprofit believes the people who keep our community running, teachers, nurses, firefighters, military families, young families and seniors, should all be able to afford to call the Pikes Peak region home.
Their Pikes Peak Down Payment Assistance program gives qualified buyers in El Paso County up to 5% of the purchase price toward a down payment or closing costs. It's a 0% interest loan that's fully forgivable, a true helping hand that won't come back to bite later.
They also track the numbers behind our local housing picture in their yearly State of Housing Report, and they speak up for building more homes, so the next generation can put down roots right here, close to the people who love them.
So what's a Housing Champion? It's simpler than it sounds. You don't open your home or write a big check. Housing Champions are everyday neighbors, renters, homeowners, business owners or anyone who cares, who lend their voice when it counts, cheering on more homes and smart housing solutions. You'll join a growing network of people who want our children and grandchildren to be able to stay close to home, and you'll get a simple toolkit to help you speak up.
