At Colorado Springs Town Tidings, we believe in the power of community support and the importance of uplifting those around us. That's why we wanted to share the incredible work being done by Clyde's Closet and Clyde's Cupboard at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs (UCCS), vital lifelines for students from all walks of lifeβfrom recent high school graduates to single parents and working adults seeking to advance their lives through education.
Clyde's Closet offers free professional attire, ensuring that every student can walk into an interview or networking event with confidence. Picture a student slipping on a blazer that transforms their posture and mindset, boosting their self-assurance and helping them present their best self. This service empowers students to overcome financial barriers, allowing their talents and determination to take center stage.
Meanwhile, Clyde's Cupboard tackles food insecurity by providing free food and hygiene products. What started as a project in Anthropology class, 10 yrs ago, with a goal to "increase student involvement and create a community of caring..." this program eliminates the stress of finding their next meal, enabling students to concentrate fully on their studies and personal growth. With their basic needs met, students can dedicate their energy to achieving their academic goals and building a brighter future.
However, these programs rely on our community's generosity. Your donations of business clothing, non-perishable food items, or financial contributions can profoundly impact a student's life. By supporting Clyde's Closet and Cupboard, you're investing in the diverse potential of our future leaders. Together, we can create an environment where every UCCS student, regardless of their background or circumstances, has the opportunity to thrive and realize their dreams.
