👩🍳 Why This Local Baker Wants You To Make Mistakes
🍜 Inside the cozy kitchen where imperfect moments become perfect memories
In a world of perfectly styled Instagram bread photos, Kam Fletcher stands apart. As The Haphazard Sourdough Baker, she's made every mistake possible—and that's precisely what makes her Colorado Springs' most approachable baking instructor.
Drawing from her years in Switzerland and inspiration from her professional baker son, Kam transformed her pandemic pivot into a thriving business that's taught over 700 people, ages 3 to 93, the art of sourdough baking. Her philosophy? Embrace imperfection and have fun with the process.
"I couldn't imagine being alone in a kitchen all day making bread to sell," Kam smiles. "Teaching allows me to create community while sharing something that's both healthy and joyful." Her classes, ranging from basic loaves to creative options like sourdough pop-tarts, take place in homes across Colorado Springs, making the experience personalized and comfortable.
What sets Kam's approach apart is her focus on simplicity. Using just four ingredients and straightforward techniques, she demystifies the ancient art of sourdough baking. Her classes have become multi-generational affairs, with families creating memories while learning together.
Corporate teams have also discovered her workshops as unique bonding experiences, and children's birthday parties transform into delicious adventures.
The magic extends beyond class time—Kam provides ongoing support to ensure success at home. "When people realize they can make beautiful, healthy bread without fancy equipment or rigid rules, it changes their relationship with food," she says with a humble nature.
Ready to discover the joy of imperfect baking?
Classes range from $40-55, and you can find Kam at HaphazardSourdough.com, Facebook, or email [email protected].
Your kitchen's about to become a lot more interesting—mistakes and all!

🐾 Is Your Pet Secretly Suffering?

Just like humans, pets can struggle with seasonal allergies caused by pollen, dust, or mold—though their symptoms often show up as itchy skin, red paws, or watery eyes rather than sneezing and sniffles.
If your pet seems more uncomfortable lately, try keeping them indoors during peak pollen times, bathing them more often, and using air purifiers. Simple changes like vacuuming frequently or adding fish oil to their diet may also help. If symptoms persist, a vet can offer further treatments like medications or allergy shots to improve your pet's comfort. Full Story
🧠 Anxiety, ADHD, Autism—Now What?

Do you know a parent who’s struggling to support a child with anxiety, ADHD, autism, or sensory challenges? A FREE in-person workshop called The Perfect Storm is happening April 17 in Colorado Springs, and it’s designed to give parents hope, guidance, and a new perspective on their child’s behavior and development.
Led by two experienced pediatric chiropractors, this evening event offers practical, drug-free tools to help children calm their nervous systems and thrive—emotionally, physically, and socially. Real stories from families who’ve seen dramatic improvements will be shared, and attendees will leave with a clearer understanding of how stress affects kids today—and what can be done to help. Snacks and drinks are included, and seats are limited so they must RSVP. If you know a family who could use support, this might be just what they need.
💦 Water, Wildlife, and Wildfire

Pikes Peak is getting a little help from nature—again. Colorado Springs Utilities is teaming up with the state to restore beaver-friendly habitat near North Catamount Reservoir. By recreating the kind of natural structures beavers once built, this project will help slow water runoff, reduce wildfire risks, and improve water quality for years to come. It's a modern solution inspired by an old way of working with nature, and there's even hope that beavers may return to the area soon.
