🐅 Tiger on the Loose (Sort Of)

Sometimes we come across a story that’s just too good not to share—and this one gave us a good laugh. Animal Law Enforcement kicked off their week with a call about an injured dog lying on the side of the road, only to discover it was actually a very lifelike stuffed tiger. Officer Jones responded with heart (and a great sense of humor), gently removing the plush “pup” so no one else would be fooled. A sweet reminder that even a mistaken rescue can brighten the day—and maybe make you smile, too. Here’s the full post on the HSPPR Facebook page.
🐾 Will These Two Animals Become BFFs at CMZoo?
Cheyenne Mountain Zoo’s latest construction update includes visible progress on the new gift shop, an accessible entrance ramp, and preparations for massive steel installations to expand animal habitats.
At the same time, the animal care team is celebrating okapi Bahati’s move to a new yard near the green play hill, where he’s beginning a careful introduction to mountain tapir Mochi. Their budding friendship could one day lead to a shared living space, thanks in part to custom infrastructure changes—including a newly carved okapi-sized door in a 100-year-old wall.

🧴 SPF Lies? What You Should Know

The Environmental Working Group (EWG) has released its 2025 Sunscreen Guide, now featuring EWG Verified® sunscreens that meet the highest standards for health and efficacy. After evaluating over 2,200 products, nearly 500 made the cut.
The guide shows major trends: a rise in safer mineral-based formulas, a sharp decline in concerning ingredients like oxybenzone and vitamin A, and continued concerns over spray sunscreens and undisclosed fragrances. High SPF claims remain misleading, especially since many US sunscreens still lack strong UVA protection. With the FDA falling behind on regulation, EWG’s guide continues to help consumers choose sunscreens that truly protect.

💙 7 Ways to Support Loved Ones with PTSD (Not Only Vets)

Today, let’s honor not just those who served, but also those silently healing, by learning how to truly show up.

🚨 6 Shot Near Palmer Park & S Academy

A serious incident unfolded late Saturday night on Potter Drive (near Palmer Park and S Academy), when an argument may have escalated into a shooting that left six people injured. Four were found at the scene and two more showed up at the hospital. While five are expected to recover, one person is still in critical condition.
The scene was large, and investigators spent the night and early morning hours collecting evidence. At last check, police were still trying to sort out exactly what happened and are asking the public to come forward with any information that might help. Call their non-emergency number at (719) 444-7000 or Crime Stoppers at (719) 634-STOP.
It’s a sobering reminder of how quickly things can spiral—and how community input can play a key role in understanding what took place. Full Story
