😮 Why July 4th Costs May Shock You

As you gear up for 4th of July celebrations, it’s good to know where your budget might stretch. While food prices have risen slightly, gas is actually cheaper than it’s been for a July 4th in years, hovering near $3 a gallon. Fireworks show organizers say they’re fully stocked despite modest price bumps, and local vendors report some items are even cheaper than last year.
So whether you’re planning to grill, travel, or light up the sky, most costs around Colorado Springs remain steady, helping you enjoy a full holiday experience without too many financial fireworks. Full Story

🤧 Why Even Non-Allergy Folks Are Sneezing

A thick cloud of dust from Texas and New Mexico has drifted into Colorado, irritating sinuses, eyes, and lungs across the Front Range. Even folks who don’t typically deal with allergies are noticing symptoms like congestion, throat irritation, and coughing.
Since pollen counts remain moderate, experts are pointing to this dust as the main cause. To stay comfortable, residents are encouraged to stay indoors during the hottest parts of the day and run air purifiers or A/C to help filter out the airborne irritants. This dusty wave is expected to pass, but for now, it's giving allergy season a serious run for its money. Full Story
🚫 City Closures & Where to Celebrate 🎉

With July 4th holiday tomorrow, the City of Colorado Springs will close many administrative offices and roads for the holiday, but there’s still plenty to do. Families can enjoy splash pads, open parks, golf courses, and the popular Family Fourth event at Rock Ledge Ranch. While tickets are sold out for the Philharmonic concert at the Ford Amphitheater, the music will be broadcast on local radio during the citywide fireworks display, so you can enjoy the celebration from home or your favorite viewing spot. Be sure to check road closures and event details before heading out!
Don’t forget that all PPLD libraries are closed July 4, while Palmer Park roads and Gold Camp Road remain off‑limits all day. Evening access to Garden of the Gods also wraps up early at 8pm, and ongoing stormwater and gas line work on Tejon could slightly impact your downtown visit. Travel smart and enjoy the holiday!

🌽 Grilled Corn on the Cob with Chipotle-Lime Rub

Recipe by Forks Over Knives
Perfect time for the summer season! In this easy recipe, a spicy-tart rub pairs well with the tender kernels of grilled fresh corn on the cob. You’ll never miss butter. Be sure to use 100-percent cotton string, as synthetic string will melt during cooking.
