🦇 First Rabies Case of the Year Is Here
A bat in Colorado Springs recently tested positive for rabies, making it the first confirmed case in El Paso County this year. One person had contact with the bat and is receiving preventive treatment. With summer in full swing, health officials are reminding the community to avoid wild animals, keep pets on a leash, and make sure vaccinations are up to date.
Bat bites can go unnoticed, so if you or your pet has any encounter with wildlife—especially a bat—reach out to a medical or veterinary professional and report it to the health department right away. Click for prevention tips from El Paso Public Health.
🎨 Artists Wanted: Paint With a Purpose

The City of Colorado Springs is calling on local artists to turn ordinary storm drains into eye-catching public art! The Storm Drain Art Project blends creativity with conservation, aiming to raise awareness about protecting our local waterways.
Artists are invited to submit designs inspired by themes like wildlife, water quality, and clean living. Chosen artists will receive a $300 commission and support with paint and materials. Whether you're a professional or a passionate creator, this is a chance to make a lasting mark—and maybe even start a few sidewalk conversations. Submissions are open now, so grab those sketchpads!

🧊 Get Up to $3,750 in Cool Rebates

With rising temperatures and another heat advisory on the horizon, Colorado Springs Utilities is helping residents cool off without blowing their budgets. A generous rebate of up to $3,750 is now available for insulation upgrades, giving electric and natural gas customers a chance to invest in long-term comfort and savings.
Also, simple changes—like using fans, running appliances during off-peak hours, and maintaining your AC—can make a noticeable difference too. Between smart habits and rebate cash, this could be your most efficient summer yet. Full Story
🤔 "Should I Create an AI Account?" Your Privacy Questions Answered
👋 I wanted to share a question from an attendee at our recent AImagination Experience workshop:
"…regarding risks of creating an account with AI platforms. I've been using ChatGPT regularly but have no login because I don't know who has access… A lot of personal data is being uploaded and feels more private to have no login. What are your thoughts…?"
Privacy concerns are definitely top of mind for many of us. Here are 5 of my observations…
Privacy #4: 🔹 THE PRIVACY-BENEFIT BALANCE
This is the real question - is the value you're getting worth the information you're sharing? For most everyday uses like drafting emails or brainstorming ideas, the tradeoff makes sense.
