🥪 Step Up to the Big Leagues at Colonel Mustard’s Sandwich Emporium
⚾ An Ode to Baseball and Family Bonds
Step up to the plate at 1412 S. 21st Street in Colorado Springs, where Karrie and Mark have created a culinary home run with Colonel Mustard’s Sandwich Emporium. Inspired by countless days at the ballpark and its classic fare, they’ve transformed their love of the staple ballpark condiment mustard into an imaginative eatery.
This delightful shop defies first impressions. Its whimsical name conjures images of a popular board game character, but actually originates from Karrie’s father, a retired military colonel. The name pays homage to her father and the special bond they share.
Inside, warm and welcoming staff like Shelly add a fun touch with the Sandwich Wheel, letting fate decide your menu options when you can't choose between the mouthwatering lineup of sandwiches.
Mustard is the MVP ingredient here, elevated in sandwiches, sauces, marinades, their signature ice cream and more. Karrie and Mark have more than 150 mustards from around the world to either sample or purchase. Gift baskets are also available.
Beyond the menu, Colonel Mustard’s champions community, hosting charity cribbage nights and becoming a hub for events. They welcome all to join their family of regulars, new friends and familiar faces.
For the full menu and event lineup, visit their website. Drop by and mention Colorado Springs Town Tidings and receive the “Friends and Family” special discount, making your meal a steal.

🚧 Lane Closures on Powers

If you travel Powers near Airport Rd, a new traffic pattern begins overnight tonight, shifting southbound lanes slightly west to allow construction crews to work in the median. Expect overnight lane closures and construction trucks moving in and out of the area.
Work also continues on the Stewart Ave on-ramp to northbound Powers, with completion expected later this fall. These changes are part of the diverging diamond interchange project, which is slated to be finished in late 2026.
👵 Seniors Find Joy in New Hub

This story just warms my heart and needed to share it with you! Colorado Springs’ brand-new Senior Center on North Hancock is already buzzing with life just weeks after its grand opening. The 23,000-square-foot facility isn’t just about walls and classrooms—it’s become a place where older adults are finding friendship, creativity, and a renewed sense of purpose.
From cardio drumming and gemstone faceting to oil painting and fly-swatting volleyball, the center offers more than 200 classes each season. In just the first few weeks, over 500 people have signed up to participate, many brand new to the YMCA’s programs.
For some, it’s a reason to get out of the house and share meals with new friends. For others, it’s a chance to revisit old passions—like ballroom dancing—or try something completely new, like painting or computer skills.
The message is clear: this new center isn’t just about staying busy, it’s about belonging. Full Story
🦌 Help CPW Locate Hurt Deer

Colorado Parks and Wildlife is working to locate an injured deer spotted in Gleneagle with red material wrapped around its body and a visible wound. Because sedating wild animals carries risks, officers typically only intervene when an entanglement threatens survival, but the deer’s condition has raised concern. CPW urges residents to report sightings to (719) 227-5200 and reminds the community to keep holiday decorations wildlife-safe by avoiding lights on outdoor trees and bushes. Full Story
