💺 New Colorado Car Seat Laws

If you have kids or grandkids in your life, heads up: Colorado has updated its car seat laws to better protect children. New rules raise the age for booster seats to 9, rear-facing seats to 2, and seat belts to 18. Most car seats are still installed wrong, so free help and resources are available at CarSeatsColorado.com.

✅ Signs Your Car Seat May Be Installed Wrong

(Save this for your kids and grandkids!)

• 🛑 Seat moves more than 1 inch side-to-side or front-to-back

• 🛑 Harness straps are loose or twisted

• 🛑 Chest clip isn’t at armpit level

• 🛑 Lap belt rides up on the stomach (not across thighs)

• 🛑 Shoulder belt touches the neck or face

• 🛑 Child’s legs dangle over booster seat edge too soon

• 🛑 Using the wrong type of seat for their size/stage

• 🛑 Rear-facing seat installed too upright (not reclined enough)

• 🛑 Car seat has expired or was in a crash

🚧 Road Test: New Tech on Woodmen

Colorado Springs has launched a major repaving project along a 1.5-mile stretch of Woodmen using a stronger, stickier asphalt known as stone matrix asphalt (SMA), typically used on highways for its durability. The city is testing this new material in hopes of lowering future maintenance costs. Alongside repaving, the Woodmen bridge over Academy is also being repaired, with most work done overnight and completion expected by the end of this year. Full Story
