👒 Women of the Civil War Group Is Forming

A new living history group is forming in Colorado Springs with a heartfelt focus on honoring women from the Civil War era. Centered at Evergreen Cemetery and Fairview Cemetery, this volunteer-led effort invites women who love history to help bring the stories of those buried there back to life. It’s a meaningful way to preserve local history while building community around shared curiosity and respect for the past.

The idea grew from a desire to preserve and share local stories in a more personal, engaging way, bringing voices from the past into the present through research, storytelling, and period interpretation. Those interested, or who know someone who might be, are encouraged to connect through Evergreen Heritage’s Facebook page as plans begin to take shape.

⚠️ Copper Theft Hits Local CenturyLink Service

Although not a new crime, Copper wire theft is becoming a growing issue in Colorado Springs, with thieves targeting utility lines and knocking out phone and internet service for more than 500 customers in recent weeks. These thefts leave behind damaged infrastructure and repeated outages, affecting homes, businesses, and essential services.

The impact goes beyond inconvenience, loss of landline service can cut off access to emergency help, especially for older residents and those using medical alert systems. In response, providers are increasing surveillance, working closely with law enforcement, and urging residents to report suspicious activity around utility poles, junction boxes, or phone lines to help protect critical services and keep neighbors safe. 🥾 Sinton Trail Just Got Better

Good news for walkers, runners, cyclists, and families: a refreshed stretch of the Sinton Trail is now open. The City of Colorado Springs has completed a long-awaited upgrade to a key segment of the Sinton Trail between Holland Park Blvd and North Chestnut St, delivering a noticeably smoother and safer experience. Worn asphalt has been replaced with durable concrete, drainage issues were corrected, and an old overhead water line was removed, eliminating uneven grades that made parts of the trail difficult to navigate.

These improvements enhance accessibility for users of all abilities while strengthening connections to nearby trails like the Pikes Peak Greenway and Templeton Gap Trail, making this well-loved route even more enjoyable for everyday recreation and active transportation.
