✨ The Family That Sees Things Clearly: The Lightning Glassworks Story
😎 When your view is compromised, the Bradshaws see the solution
If you sit down at the Bradshaw family dinner table, conversation inevitably turns to window seals, glass fabrication, or the latest weather event. That passionate knowledge is precisely why you'll want them in your home when cold air seeps through your windows or when unexpected damage compromises your view.
For the Bradshaws, glass isn't just a business; it's the connective tissue of their family. Their story begins in Denver, where Marshall Bradshaw worked alongside his father-in-law, referred to as Grandpa Jerry, learning the trade. When Jerry was struck by Guillain–Barré syndrome and temporarily paralyzed, Marshall shouldered the entire family's future. While caring for his father-in-law, he kept their small operation running.
When severe hail storms battered Denver, Marshall recognized more than an opportunity…he saw families suddenly vulnerable, needing someone they could trust. In 1990, he founded Lightning Glassworks & Screens the same year his 3rd child, Jed, was born.
In 2000, the family moved to Colorado Springs, bringing that commitment to homeowners, businesses and property managers along the I-25 corridor. Today, that legacy thrives through a true family unit: Marshall and Amy steering the ship, Jake (with his distinctive mustache) leading installation, Jessi managing finances, and Jed, now the Chief Marketing Officer, working alongside Hayden to ensure smooth operations.

Through life's challenges, including Jed's recent victory over Hodgkins Lymphoma, the Bradshaws understand that security can vanish in an instant. When your window fails, it's not merely an inconvenience, it's a breach in your home's protection. They recognize this deeply because they've weathered their own storms.
When you call Lightning Glassworks & Screens about a foggy window or broken pane, you're not getting a faceless franchise. You're getting neighbors who treat your concern with genuine care. In an industry full of high-pressure sales, the Bradshaws offer honest guidance: you may not need an expensive window replacement overhaul. You may just need the right repair.
They fabricate insulated glass units locally in their shop, offering quick solutions without long delays. When winter drafts creep in or Colorado's temperature fluctuations compromise your seals, you need someone who understands the importance of restoring your home's comfort and integrity.
Don't let window problems leave you feeling vulnerable. Call the family that has been making Colorado homes whole again for over 35 years. When the Bradshaws fix a window, they're restoring more than glass, they're bringing back the warmth and security that make a house feel like home.

🎆 Three Generations, A New Chapter for AdAmAn

Today, as the newest member of the AdAmAn Club, Mac Sommers is making the climb of a lifetime. He is following in the footsteps of his grandfather and father as he takes on the AdAmAn Club's legendary New Year’s Eve ascent up Pikes Peak. As highlighted in yesterday's Trivia, this tradition started in 1922, and every Dec 31st, members hike the rugged trail to light up the sky from 14K feet with a spectacular fireworks show.
For Mac, it’s more than just a hike. It’s about honoring his family’s legacy, especially his grandfather, who joined the club in 1965 and helped make this tradition what it is today. Yesterday morning started with a special breakfast with his 97-year-old grandmother, who’s supported every climb with love and pride.
You can watch updates on their Facebook page and if it's cloudy, you can check the Pikes Peak Summit live webcam at midnight.
Curious on what they will be doing today?
🕢 7:30am – Leave Barr Camp
🏞️ 10am – Arrival at timberline A-Frame
🔦 10am–10:30am – Mirror flashing to Colorado Springs
🏔️ 2:30pm – Arrival at the summit
🎆 9pm – Fireworks to commemorate club-founding Frozen Five
🎇 Midnight – Fireworks
🚗 12:30am – Drive down Pikes Peak Highway
Tradition. Family. Fireworks. That’s how Mac will welcome his New Year, one step at a time.

🐶 Help Pets Stay Calm Tonight

With New Year’s Eve here, the Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region is encouraging pet owners to think ahead as fireworks (which are illegal) and loud noise begin popping across the city. Loud booms and bright flashes can trigger anxiety and panic, sometimes causing pets to bolt or become injured.
Simple steps can make a big difference: double-check collars and microchip info, take dogs for a long walk earlier in the evening, and keep pets indoors during celebrations. Creating a quiet, comforting space with familiar blankets, white noise, or enrichment toys can help pets feel secure. Extra care with leashes, fences, and keeping fireworks out of reach can go a long way in making sure everyone, two-legged and four-legged, starts the new year safely. Full Story
🎂 101 Years of Joy & Wisdom

It’s not every day you get to celebrate a 101st birthday, and we are lucky enough to have a centenarian right in our community. Edna DeJohn, who has called Colorado Springs home for decades, recently marked this incredible milestone surrounded by loved ones at Springs Ranch Memory Care. Born in 1924, she has witnessed the city grow from open prairie to the vibrant place we know today, all while building a life centered on family, faith, hard work, and staying socially connected.
Known for her sharp wit, love of crossword puzzles and Bingo, and even a longtime passion for fast cars, Edna’s outlook remains refreshingly simple: enjoy life, stay happy, and keep going. Her story is a beautiful reminder that aging can be filled with purpose, humor, and deep roots in the community we share. Full Story
