🐕🦺 A Springs Homecoming That Melted America
In a touching moment captured on World News Tonight focused right here in Colorado Springs, as an 8-year-old black lab named Weatherby showed just how deep the bond between pets and their people can be. While her owner, Air Force Technical Sergeant Blake Crowe, was deployed overseas, Weatherby lost her vision due to a sudden and permanent condition.
When he finally returned home, the family wasn’t sure how she would react but the moment he walked in, Weatherby turned toward the sound of his voice, followed his scent, and immediately knew he was home. Their reunion was gentle, emotional, and quietly powerful, highlighting not only the resilience of this sweet dog, but also the enduring connections shared by military families who navigate long separations and unexpected challenges together.
🌸 Seasonal Jobs in Bloom (No Longer Hiring)

UPDATE: Phelan Gardens sent me a message saying they are not hiring from the public, only if you were on their newsletter list. If you love being outdoors, working with plants, and helping people feel inspired, Phelan Gardens is hiring and now accepting applications for seasonal positions. They’re looking for friendly, dependable team players who enjoy hands-on work and don’t mind a fast-paced day surrounded by greenery. No expert knowledge required, just a willingness to learn and a good attitude.
💰 Starting pay is $17.50/hour

🚀 Turning the Page on Space Command

Colorado Springs and El Paso County leaders say it’s time to move on from the prolonged dispute over the relocation of US Space Command and focus on what comes next. While Phil Weiser plans to continue legal action against the federal government over the decision to move the headquarters to Huntsville, Alabama.
Local leaders, including the Colorado Springs Chamber & EDC, are formally opposing the lawsuit through a legal filing that reflects the community’s position. City Council and county commissioners have backed that move, signaling a shared desire to stop revisiting the past and instead compete for future military investments, aerospace contracts, and emerging defense initiatives.
Mayor Yemi acknowledged disappointment with the relocation but emphasized respect for both presidential authority and the legal process, reinforcing a balanced tone as the region looks ahead. Local leaders say Colorado Springs remains well-positioned for future growth in space and defense and that’s where the focus now belongs. Full Story

🥣 One-Pot Lentil & Vegetable Soup with Parmesan

Recipe by Eating Well
This soup is rich in fiber from lentils and kale, contributing to digestive health with a nuttiness from the parmesan that gives the broth some body.
