😟 Locals Feel the Pinch as Property Tax Bills Arrive

El Paso County homeowners are confronting higher property tax bills after a state provision designed to provide temporary relief expired. 😬 Roaches, Raw Meat & Restaurant Redemption
This week’s restaurant inspection report highlights why routine health checks matter. Two restaurants were flagged for issues that could impact food safety (primarily around hygiene, cross-contamination, temperature control, and pest activity) prompting required re-inspections, though none were ordered to close at this time.
One popular restaurant landed in a “mixed” category after previously closing but has since corrected issues and passed.

As always, re-inspections are part of the process, giving restaurants the opportunity to correct issues and demonstrate compliance.
⚠️ Re-Inspection Required
This location remains open for now, but must address specific issues before inspectors return.

🥾 One Trail, So Many Connections - Rock Island Trail

The Rock Island Trail is one of those low-key secrets that does a lot. Built along a former railroad corridor, this roughly 6-mile paved trail runs east–west alongside Constitution Ave, stretching from Weber to Powers. With its gentle grade and smooth surface, it’s well-suited for walkers, cyclists, and everyday commuters alike.
Along the way, the trail weaves through residential and urban areas, includes a handful of street crossings, and connects directly to the Shooks Run Trail, making it an easy jumping-off point to reach Palmer Park, the Pikes Peak Greenway, and other parts of the city’s growing trail network.
Location: N Circle & Constitution Ave, Colorado Springs, CO
