š©āš³ From Prep to Plate: Chef-Prepared Dining That Fits Your Life
When was the last time you savored a truly fresh, home-cooked meal that warmed both your heart and home? For seniors, this simple joy is now an affordable reality ā right in your own kitchen.
Picture this: The comforting aroma of simmering herbs fills your home as a professional chef prepares your favorite dishes just steps away. No cleanup, no grocery shopping, no stress ā just the pleasure of wholesome meals and engaging conversation. Most importantly, you maintain your independence at home, knowing fresh and healthy options are always available.
Meet Chef Lisa Murray, who brings the Chefs For Seniors experience to Colorado Springs. Her journey from a military child sharing meals across the globe to leading prestigious restaurant kitchens for 20 years has taught her one precious truth: food creates connections that last a lifetime. Now, she's bringing that same magic into seniors' homes.
Lisa and her team of chefs do more than cook ā they create experiences. They handle everything from selecting fresh ingredients to the final cleanup, crafting meals that perfectly match your tastes and dietary needs. They provide the convenience and customized attention of a personal chef, all while remaining a budget-friendly option for seniors.
š„š„ EXCLUSIVE FOR COS TOWN TIDINGS READERS: Call today and mention this article to receive a complimentary restaurant-quality plated meal with your first service package ($75 value) available ONLY for our subscribers. š¦ New Leader for Our Beloved Zoo

Cheyenne Mountain Zoo has named a new president and CEO, and Dave Ruhl officially steps in on June 12, 2026. He replaces Bob Chastain, who led the zoo for two decades. Big shoes to fill, but the board is confident in the choice.
Hereās why:
š¦ Led the design and build of the new International Center for the Care and Conservation of Giraffe, opening summer 2026
š Oversaw the launch of Waterās Edge: Africa
š„ Built a people-first culture with staff programs like intramural kickball and soccer
š¤ Active in Colorado Springs Chamber & EDC and Leadership Pikes Peak
š”ļø Brought safety and conservation wins from roles at Toledo Zoo and Palm Beach Zoo
Ruhl joined CMZoo in April 2020, starting as vice president of operations before being promoted to executive vice president. Now, heās moving into the top role. Board Chair Ann Naughton highlighted his leadership and strong reputation in the zoo community as key reasons for the decision.
His style is simple: support, trust, and teamwork. Not slogans. Action.
š¦ 70 Years Later⦠BJās Expands

One of Colorado Springsā most beloved classic drive-ins is expanding. BJās Velvet Freez is opening a second location, bringing even more soft-serve swirls, legendary shakes and old-school favorites to our community.
Owner Stan Kelley confirmed the new shop is set to open in March at 2900 E Platte, right next to Fargoās Pizza. While an exact opening date hasnāt been finalized, the countdown has officially begun.
BJās first opened in 1954 and has been serving up hamburgers, sundaes and malts to generations of locals ever since. After celebrating 70 years in 2024, the iconic spot is proving itās still a favorite, and now itās getting bigger.
š„ USA Ends 50-Year Drought!
Most people thought U.S. cross-country skiing was out of the medal race. Well, Ben Ogden proved them wrong as he won silver in the menās sprint classic. He is the first U.S. medal in this event in 50 years.
Here is what stood out at the 2026 Winter Olympics Day 4:
š„ Ben Ogden ended a 50-year drought in cross-country sprint.
š„ Cory Thiesse and Korey Dropkin took silver in mixed doubles curling after a long climb through the ranks.
š„ Jackie Wiles and Paula Moltzan secured bronze in the womenās team combined with strong downhill and slalom runs.
š· Ashley Farquharson earned bronze in womenās singles luge. Only the third U.S. medal in this event.
āøļø Andrew Torgashev posted a personal best in his Olympic debut in the short program.
šµ Maxim Naumov skated his debut to Chopin and dedicated it to his parents.
šæ Liz Lemley and Olivia Giaccio both reached the moguls final. A slim point gap separated them.
ā±ļø Clayton DeClemente advanced to the 1000m quarterfinals in his debut after staying alert during a collision.
š U.S. Womenās Hockey team beat the Canadian team to advance to the next level
Not every story ended on the podium.
Mikaela Shiffrin and Breezy Johnson placed fourth in the team combined. Close to bronze.
Corinne Stoddard crashed in the 500m. Kristen Santos-Griswold and Julie Letai moved on to the quarterfinals.
