📈 Sales Tax Growth Continues

El Paso County’s economy is holding steady. Sales and use tax collections for 2025 are up about 2% over last year, showing consistent growth and stable local spending. The latest quarterly update matched financial forecasts and continues to support public safety, roads, parks, and community programs.
County leaders say they’re watching economic trends closely to keep long-term plans on track. El Paso County also maintains one of the lowest tax burdens per resident in the state.
🚌 Free Ride Pilot Program

Mountain Metro Transit is rolling out several changes this spring to make getting around Colorado Springs easier and faster.
Starting March 29:
Route 10 and Route 11 will run every 30 minutes instead of once per hour.
Route 5 and Route 25 will increase service from every 30 minutes to every 15 minutes.
Route 3 will become fare-free as part of a new pilot program.
Why the change?
The free Route 3 aims to help reduce street parking congestion in Downtown Colorado Springs, Old Colorado City, and Manitou Springs.
Riders are encouraged to park in garages or lots and take the bus to busy areas.
If ridership is strong, the free route could continue long-term.
The new service changes take effect March 29 and will not increase parking or bus fares elsewhere in the system. Full Story

🥔 World’s Biggest Potato Truck in COS

The Big Idaho® Potato Truck stops at Texas Roadhouse (595 S 8th St), tomorrow on Fri, Mar 6 from 3–6:30pm. The potato isn’t real, but it weighs four tons and stretches 72 feet with the truck. That’s about 21,562 medium potatoes in one giant spud-on-wheels.
If it were real, it would take 7,000 years to grow and two years to bake. 🤣 Instead, it’s here for photos, food, and family fun.
The truck travels 22,000 miles a year and visits more than 120 cities. Now it’s our turn.
📸 Stop by, snap a pic, and see the world’s largest potato on wheels. Full Story
