Cardiologists: Try This Sugar Trick For Looser Pants Fast

For many people over 40, weight gain does not start because they suddenly eat more. It often begins when the body handles sugar differently after meals.

Cardiologists say repeated blood sugar spikes and crashes can push the body to store more energy as belly fat, even when daily habits stay mostly the same.

Read the report on the sugar pattern researchers are studying.

💔 Her Rugged Mountain Man Was Actually A Master Manipulator

🔓 Meet the author who lived to tell the chilling tale...

What began as a peaceful Saturday in Rocky Mountain National Park turned into an unexpected journey that Colorado Springs author Kristin Middleton never saw coming. After building a successful home care company in Denver, she finally found a moment to take a guided fly fishing excursion, a quiet escape meant to connect her to memories of her late father.

That single trip awakened latent childhood dreams of wide-open spaces and adventure, setting the stage for her powerful memoir, Rocky Mountain Charlatan. The book draws us into her experience meeting a charming fishing guide who seemed to embody the ultimate fantasy: a rugged, perfect partner to share a life of untamed mountain beauty and the quiet rhythm of the river. As their relationship bloomed, what appeared to be a flawless romance slowly revealed insidious currents beneath.

The bewildering beauty of the high streams makes it easy to lose oneself. As the story unfolds, we discover how this breathtaking isolation creates a disarming environment for someone to completely conceal their true nature.

The memoir invites us to walk alongside her through a harrowing two-year journey of love, deception, and ultimately, survival. Her experience serves as a powerful reminder for all of us, especially women, to honor our intuition and recognize the subtle red flags of highly skilled manipulators.

You can find Rocky Mountain Charlatan at local bookstores including Poor Richard's, West Side Stories, Mountain View Books, Base Camp Books, and Covered Treasures in Monument.

😳 Local Makers Blindsided

Many Colorado Springs small business owners are facing an unexpected and emotional setback after the reported, immediate closure of Painted Tree Boutiques, which appears to have happened with no public notice (you won’t find it on their website or social media at the moment…we’ve looked!)

Vendors say they were informed directly via email and given up until Apr 25 to remove their storefronts and inventory. For some, the space had become a key source of income, customer discovery, and steady monthly sales.

Losing that overnight is more than a business disruption, it’s deeply personal for the people who poured their time, money, and creativity into building something there…not to mention a major source of income.

Our hearts go out to every creator affected by this unexpected setback. If your business was impacted, we’d love to help shine a light on you and your business. We’re inviting affected vendors to be featured here in Colorado Springs Town Tidings so more neighbors can discover and support you. 👉 Click here to get featured.

😩 Here We Go Again, CSU

Colorado Springs residents may soon see another adjustment to our utility bills as Colorado Springs Utilities proposes a new monthly natural gas rider fee of $8.54 for residential customers. The added charge would help fund federally required safety improvements, including replacing older steel gas lines and upgrading infrastructure through 2029. Business customers would pay a higher monthly amount.

The proposal comes shortly after customers saw modest decreases (remember when we reported on this a few weeks ago and were skeptical about a decrease) tied to fuel costs, making the timing especially noticeable for households already watching every dollar. City Council is expected to review the request Tues, and if approved, the new charge would take effect July 1. Full Story

🏫 Palmer High School Turns 150

Colorado Springs' original high school is celebrating a milestone: 150 years of students, stories, and community history. Palmer High School first opened as Colorado Springs High School back in 1874, is marking the occasion with alumni tours, yearbook displays, and conversations about the campus's future, which includes a major renovation expected to be completed by 2028.

If you ever walked those halls or have a grandchild there now, the public open house on Sat, April 25 at 10am-4pm is worth a visit. Current students will be on hand to share their experience alongside alumni reflecting on generations of “Terrors” pride.
