🚧 Delays Coming on I-25
Colorado Springs drivers should expect overnight delays on I-25 as CDOT continues bridge and roadway improvements between Fillmore and Garden of the Gods. If you use that stretch regularly, here are the biggest impacts to know:
🚧 Thurs & Friday, Apr 16 & 17 | 10pm–4am
Full closure of southbound I-25 at Garden of the Gods Road with detours in place.🚗 Overnight lane closures also planned
Crews are preparing pavement, repairing the bridge deck, and replacing expansion devices.⚠️ More closures ahead:
May 1: Full overnight closure of northbound I-25 at Garden of the Gods Road
May 8: Full overnight closure of southbound I-25 at Garden of the Gods Road
If possible, check your route ahead of time and give yourself a little extra travel time.
🏥 Local Hospital Closure Fears?
A recent report highlighting financially vulnerable hospitals in Colorado sparked concern, especially after it included a Colorado Springs hospital (UCHealth Grandview Hospital) on the list. In response, CommonSpirit Health says its Colorado facilities are not under threat of closure or service reductions and that patient care will continue as normal.
The organization acknowledged ongoing financial pressures affecting hospitals across the state but said it remains focused on long-term stability, quality care, and serving local communities. Colorado Springs’ aerospace and defense momentum continues as SelectTech Services Corporation announced plans to expand into El Paso County with at least 150 new jobs. The Ohio-based company supports military and mission-critical programs and said the Pikes Peak region offered the right mix of talent, proximity to customers, and long-term growth potential. Jobs are expected to include engineers, technicians, buyers, managers, planners, and technical writers, with salaries well above the county average.
For local job seekers and the broader economy, it’s encouraging news that reinforces Colorado Springs as a destination for high-paying careers and future-focused industries.
