🐮 Rising Beef Prices, Local Ranchers Speak Out

A local Colorado Springs rancher is speaking out against plans to import more beef from Argentina, fearing it could further undercut US ranchers who are already facing herd shortages and declining incomes. Mike Callicrate, who owns Ranch Foods Direct, says the move could hurt efforts to rebuild herds and keep new ranchers on the land. But don’t be fooled—Colorado weather can shift fast, and a snowstorm could still sneak up before we know it. Full Story
🚦 Why Powers Traffic Lights Seem Off

Colorado Springs carefully times traffic lights on busy roads like Powers Blvd to reduce congestion and improve safety, using synchronized systems that create a wave of green lights when drivers stick to the speed limit. These systems, though highly coordinated, can get thrown off by pedestrian crossings or signal malfunctions—especially at known trouble spots like Dublin and N Carefree. Still, city engineers continue to monitor and refine the timing to keep traffic flowing as smoothly as possible across our growing community. Full Story
