A recent community-wide survey has confirmed what many of us already feel—housing and thoughtful growth top the list of concerns across El Paso and Teller counties. The “Our Spacious Skies” survey, which reached nearly 4,000 residents, revealed that while most people worry about the pace of growth, there's hope that with good planning and community collaboration, it can still be a positive force.

Affordable housing, mental health, and homelessness remain pressing issues, especially in Teller County. But there's strong support for creative solutions, from converting empty buildings into homes to focusing on prevention. With a new regional data dashboard coming in 2026, community leaders are being encouraged to use this information to take action—together. *Source
