๐ถ Rescue Dog Breaks Out In Hives, Spurs Life Changing Journey
๐พ We tried everything, but this was the turning point
Rubyโs skin erupted in angry hives within 24 hours of adoption. Jerrod Bohannon and Kariann Harker tried every topical treatment recommended, but the relief was always temporary. They realized they were treating the symptom, not the source. Desperate to help their suffering dog, they turned their attention to the one thing suggested that they could control: her bowl.
"We spent countless nights researching," Jerrod recalls. "We realized that what was on the label didn't match what was in the bag."
Their kitchen became a testing ground for their four rescue dogs, each battling unique health issues. The breakthrough came when they discovered Pet Wants. Unlike the shelf-stable bags sitting in warehouses for months, this was small-batch, slow-cooked food with no corn, wheat, soy, or fillers.
The transformation was undeniable. Eight-year-old Rubyโs skin cleared completely, and after two ACL surgeries, this nutrition plan helped her regained a puppy-like energy. Suzie, their Mastiff-mix with severe digestive issues that would clear a roomโฆfinally found relief (and so did anyone around her.)
Jerrod and Kariann realized this wasn't just about their dogs (or cats), it was a solution their neighbors needed, too. They didn't just want to buy the food; they wanted to be the ones delivering it.
In June 2025, they opened Pet Wants Colorado Springs Briargate. They aren't just franchise owners; they are local pet parents bringing fresh, nutrient-rich food directly to doorsteps in our community.
Their commitment to local pets goes even deeper. Through their "Pack Gives Back" program, they match customer donations pound-for-pound to support Karl's Canine Krew, the very rescue community that brought them together with their dogs.
"Weโve been where you are, staring at a label and wishing for a better answer," Kariann says.
Letโs get your best friend on the path to their healthiest, happiest life. Don't wait for a health scare to change what's in your pet's bowl.
๐ EXCLUSIVE: Try Pet Wants for FREE! Add a "Snowman" sample (1.5 lb of 3 different food formulas) to your cart and use promo code COSTT at checkout. ๐๏ธ Community Input Matters TONIGHT - 2026 Housing Funds

๐ฃ๏ธ This is your chance to be heard. TONIGHT, Jan 7 from 6-7pm, the City of Colorado Springs is hosting a public hearing on its draft 2026 Annual Action Plan, which guides how federal housing and community development funds will be invested this year.
The plan focuses on affordable housing, homelessness response and prevention, neighborhood improvements, and support for community-based organizations serving low- and moderate-income residents. Funding comes from federal programs like Community Development Block Grants, HOME funds, and Emergency Solutions Grants, and community input plays a key role in shaping final priorities. Residents can attend in person, online, or by phone to share feedback and help ensure these investments reflect real needs across Colorado Springs.

โ๏ธ Chapel Restoration Gains Momentum

Hereโs the latestโฆthe United States Air Force Academy is pushing forward with renewed momentum on the Cadet Chapel restoration, one of the most complex construction projects in Air Force history. After overcoming unexpected challenges, including extensive asbestos removal and hidden structural issues, crews are now working year-round inside a protective enclosure to repair decades of water damage, correct design flaws, and modernize systems while honoring the Chapelโs original design.
The project includes restoring 24,000 stained glass panels, historic organs, pews, and exterior cladding, all with the goal of returning this national landmark to full service as quickly, and responsibly as possible.
๐ A Snowy Reminder for Drivers

Snow is expected tomorrow, and that means roads across Colorado Springs could turn icy quickly, especially during the morning and evening commute. Local tire shops say this is the moment many drivers realize their tires may not be ready, whether itโs low pressure from cold temperatures, worn tread, or not meeting Coloradoโs updated traction requirements. If conditions worsen, CDOT can activate extra traction rules, which require specific tread depth, snow-rated tires, or approved traction devices.
Making sure your tires are winter-ready before the snow starts can help prevent crashes, road closures, and long delays and make driving in snow and icy conditions a lot less stressful. Full Story
