โ„๏ธ Snow Brings Icy Roads + Closures & Delays

Snow that fell overnight and continuing this morning is creating slick and icy conditions across Southern Colorado, especially west of I-25 and in higher elevations, and many closures and delayed starts are expected as communities respond to road conditions. Many areas will see slushy roads at lower elevations, while wind picking up later this morning could worsen travel conditions and visibility.

Expected Snow totals:

  • Colorado Springs: 3-8โ€ณ

  • Fountain: 2-6โ€ณ

  • Pueblo: 2-6โ€ณ

  • Manitou Springs: 7-12โ€ณ

  • Monument: 4-9โ€ณ

  • Fort Carson: 3-7โ€ณ

  • Cripple Creek: 3-7โ€ณ

  • Woodland Park: 4-9โ€ณ

  • Palmer Lake: 4-9โ€ณ

  • Falcon: 4-7โ€ณ

  • Calhan: 2-6โ€ณ

  • Fountain: 2-7โ€ฒ

Road crews are already working priority routes, but drivers are encouraged to stay home if possible and if you need to go out, allow extra time, check for local closure updates, and use caution on untreated streets during the morning commute.

๐Ÿšธ When Drivers Ignore School Zones

When Drivers Ignore School Zones

A longtime crossing guard in northeast Colorado Springs made the painful decision to step away after repeated close calls with speeding drivers in a school zone. He feels the daily risk from speeding vehicles became too much. Despite clearly marked, flashing school-zone signs, drivers frequently failed to slow down, creating unsafe conditions during arrival and dismissal times. The situation left the guard feeling unsupported and worried about student safety.

In response, CSPD says school-zone traffic safety remains a priority and encourages residents to report problem areas through the cityโ€™s GOCOS app. District 49 also emphasized that student and staff safety is non-negotiable and said it will continue working with law enforcement to improve conditions. ๐Ÿฅ˜ Restaurant Scores: Hits & Misses

Little Nepal โ€“ 4820 Flintridge Dr 12 violations | Required to undergo re-inspection

Recent restaurant health inspections across Colorado Springs highlighted both areas of concern and signs of improvement. Three restaurants were flagged for re-inspection due to higher numbers of violations often tied to food handling, temperature control, or sanitation procedures. Three others passed with only a few minor issues.

As always, re-inspections are part of the process, giving restaurants the opportunity to correct issues and demonstrate compliance.

๐Ÿ‘‰ Recently Failed, waiting re-inspection:

These locations were flagged for multiple violations and will need to correct issues before moving forward.

  • Little Nepal โ€“ 4820 Flintridge Dr
12 violations | Required to undergo re-inspection. Previously closed last year but reopened after corrections; this time, no closure was ordered.

  • First Wok โ€“ 3912 E San Miguel St
9 violations | A pattern of initial failures followed by passing re-inspections.

  • The Boil Daddy โ€“ 5996 Stetson Hills Blvd
10 violations | Similar history of correcting issues after follow-up inspections.

๐Ÿฅ‡ Top Scores! Marigolds stood out again as a consistently strong performer, continuing its streak of passing inspections on the first try.

Marigolds โ€“ 4605 Centennial Blvd

โœ… High Scores or Passed Re-inspection:

  • Lumen8 Rooftop Restaurant โ€“ 402 S Tejon St #801
3 minor violations | Passed on first inspection.

  • โญ Marigolds โ€“ 4605 Centennial Blvd
4 minor violations | Featured Pass โ€” has passed every inspection on the first try for several years.

  • 3 Margaritas Family Mexican Restaurant โ€“ 2 Widefield Blvd
3 minor violations | Notable improvement after past re-inspection cycles.

Health inspection results across El Paso County are available online for those wanting to check their favorite spots.

*Note: Most local restaurants take food safety incredibly seriously. In fact, many owners respond to violations swiftly and thoroughly, often making fixes the same day while they wait for reinspection.
