🕊️ The Colorado Springs Nonprofit Changing How We Face Goodbye
When someone hears the word “hospice,” it is easy to think only of endings. Pikes Peak Hospice & Palliative Care was created to gently rewrite that story, one family at a time. Hospice, for them, is about helping people live as fully and comfortably as possible in whatever time they have left, with moments that still feel like life, not just illness.
More than 45 years ago, two local volunteers saw neighbors facing serious illness without the support they deserved and decided to do something about it. That small beginning has grown into the region’s only nonprofit hospice and, as of 2025, the only hospice Inpatient Care Center in Colorado Springs, with 12 private suites, a family kitchen and great room, a chapel, a veterans’ reflection room, a children’s play area, and gardens where loved ones can take a breath.
Their teams care for patients in homes, senior communities, and the new Inpatient Care Center, surrounding families with nurses, social workers, aides, chaplains, and grief counselors who listen first and honor what matters most to each person. Comfort, dignity, and access for all are not slogans here; they are daily promises lived out at bedsides across our city.
