🏠 New Housing Idea Taking Root

Nearly a year after Colorado Springs approved new regulations for Accessory Dwelling Units (ADU), the city has issued eight permits under the updated ordinance while interest among homeowners appears to be growing.

ADUs, small secondary homes built on existing residential properties, are viewed as one possible way to expand housing options in the city. Builders say inquiries about ADU projects have increased since the ordinance passed, although certain design rules and permitting steps can still add complexity and cost to projects. Supporters believe the updated guidelines help encourage new housing opportunities while still protecting the character of established neighborhoods. *Source

📉 Mortgage Rates Start to Slide

Mortgage rates have gradually declined to around 6.18% for a 30-year fixed loan after several Federal Reserve rate cuts in late 2025. While the Fed paused further cuts in January 2026, rates may continue to ease slightly, though significant drops are uncertain. Buyers and homeowners are encouraged to make decisions based on personal financial goals rather than trying to time the market. *Read Source
