🍕 Beloved Downtown Spot SOLD

This one feels like the end of an era…but thankfully, not the end of what so many of us love.
After 51 years in downtown Colorado Springs, Poor Richard’s has officially been sold by original owners Richard Skorman and Patricia Seator to local couple Joe Cole and Sarah Gibeau-Cole. The new owners say the goal isn’t to reinvent the beloved gathering place, but to protect what has made it such a meaningful part of Colorado Springs for generations.
Joe Cole and Sarah Gibeau-Cole
That means the bookstore, toy store, restaurant and the quirky, community-centered spirit people have come to know are expected to stay very much intact. Staff will remain in place, and the transition is already underway. A public celebration is also planned for May 3 to honor the longtime owners and welcome this next chapter.

For a lot of locals, this one will probably feel personal, and maybe a little emotional too.
🚀 This Felt Like Childhood Again

Artemis II lit up more than the Florida sky yesterday, it also stirred up a lot of wonder for people who remember watching launches as kids. The historic mission sends four astronauts on a ten-day journey around the moon, marking the first crewed lunar mission of its kind in more than FIVE decades. For families watching from Colorado Springs and beyond, it was one of those rare moments that felt both exciting and deeply meaningful.
Astronomers say missions like this don’t just push science forward, they can also plant the seed for future scientists, engineers and dreamers who may one day help shape what comes next. Full Story

🏕️ “Leave”… But Go Where?

A Colorado Springs recovery and support center is encouraging more honest conversations between the unhoused community and the programs meant to help them.
Leaders and peer mentors at Superior Connections, many of whom have experienced homelessness themselves, say one of the biggest barriers is trust. They believe people are more likely to accept help when they feel seen, understood and treated with consistency.
The concern they’re raising is less about whether outreach exists and more about whether it always feels helpful or human to the people on the receiving end. Local outreach teams say they are working to connect people with available resources, but some advocates believe more direct input from those living through it could lead to better outcomes.
At the heart of it, this is really about listening and making sure support feels like support. Full Story
