Warming up your car on a cold morning might feel like a must, but it could leave your vehicle open to theft—even if your key fob is in your pocket! In a recent incident on the city’s northeast side, a car was stolen after the owner stepped inside while it was running. Thieves took advantage of a fob left in the vehicle or nearby, a common issue depending on the car's make and model. Authorities warn that "puffing" is illegal in Colorado, and experts suggest checking your car’s behavior by trying to start it without any keys to see if there are hidden vulnerabilities. Thankfully, the car was recovered, but not before the suspects used the owner’s debit card left behind inside. Full Story

🚗 Rideshare Turns Fatal in Springs

Jeremy Campbell, a local Uber driver and beloved family member from the Cimarron Hills area, was reported missing earlier this week. El Paso County Sheriff's Office says he was later found deceased in a remote field near Black Forest, with his vehicle recovered miles away at a local apartment complex.

Investigators believe Jeremy was fatally stabbed late Sunday night while working a ride requested through the Uber app. The suspect, 24-year-old Khayla Dawson, was identified as the last passenger in his vehicle and has since been arrested. She now faces multiple charges, including first-degree murder and aggravated robbery.

According to the Sheriff's Office, Dawson admitted to attacking Jeremy and leaving his body in the field before returning to her apartment in his car. Several key pieces of evidence were recovered, including hidden knives, the victim's belongings, and a car key fob stashed inside her home. Full Story
