🏡 New Alert Helps Protect Your Home

The El Paso County Clerk and Recorder’s Office is encouraging property owners to sign up for its new Recording Notification Service, a free tool designed to catch potential property or mortgage fraud early. As fraudulent deeds and liens become more common, this service sends email alerts whenever documents matching your name, or name variations, are recorded in the county system. That early warning allows homeowners to quickly confirm whether a filing is legitimate or take action if something looks off.

County officials also recommend regularly checking property records, keeping mailing information up to date, monitoring vacant homes, and updating deeds after major life changes to further reduce the risk of fraud. *Source

📉 2026 Mortgage Rates: What to Expect

Mortgage rates ended 2025 on a gentler note as the Federal Reserve delivered its third rate cut of the year, signaling growing confidence that inflation is cooling. The average 30-year fixed rate has dipped closer to the low 6% range, down from its early-2025 peak, but experts caution that progress will likely remain slow and uneven.

While additional rate cuts in 2026 could provide modest relief on monthly payments, affordability will still be shaped by home prices, inventory shortages, and personal finances. For buyers, the guidance is steady rather than reactive, waiting for a perfect rate could mean more competition later, while today’s conditions may still offer opportunities for those ready to move. *Read Source
