Do you ever wake up already bracing for it? The stiff neck that will not turn all the way, the low back that groans before your feet even touch the floor, the shoulder knot that quietly moved in months ago and refuses to leave.

We tell ourselves it is just part of a busy life, part of getting older, part of sitting too long or sleeping wrong. So we book a lovely spa massage, float for a blissful afternoon, and by morning the ache has settled right back in like it never left.

Carolyn Durham has spent nearly 30 years making sure you do not have to live that way.

Back in 1995, Carolyn was raising three young kids and looking for work that would let her stay close to home. A friend invited her to a massage school info session on a whim. She had no medical background and no real plan, but she went anyway. She watched the instructors light up as they talked about actually getting people out of pain, and something in her clicked. She enrolled right away.

The school only taught one thing at the time: neuromuscular therapy. So from her very first day of training, Carolyn was learning a clinical, root-cause approach, never spa fluff. That foundation became her life's work.

Today, Carolyn leads a team of 14 certified Neuromuscular Massage therapists at Advanced Neuromuscular Therapeutics on West Bijou. Their work reaches past surface tension.

They release the exact points where muscles and tendons anchor to the bone (the hidden spots that keep pulling you back into pain), then layer in trigger point work, myofascial release (gently freeing the connective tissue wrapping every muscle), Swedish techniques, and targeted stretches so relief actually lasts.
