🎶 The 1940s Legend Behind Our Newest Hangout
🎺 1 Box Of Sheet Music Started It All, And You're Invited
Imagine a warm Colorado summer evening. The sun's dipping low, the air smells like fresh popcorn, and you're settled into a lawn chair at the park with a cool drink in hand. A live band fills the air, neighbors are laughing, kids are running across the grass, and there's a sense of belonging that feels just right.
This is a moment brought to life by Sara Vaas, the founder of Dizzy Charlie's Music & Events. Sara's story is rooted in the legacy of her grandfather, David Charles Vaas, a jazz composer who played at the Broadmoor in the 1940s. When Sara held his original, handwritten sheet music years later, she didn't just see notes on a page. She saw a mission to keep his rhythm alive by bringing people together the way music once did for him.

Sheet Music
Sara realized that music is the ultimate invitation. She didn't want to simply book bands; she wanted to build a space where everyone is welcome, whether you've just come off a trail hike or you're dressed up for date night. With her team of volunteers, "Charlie's Angels," and free popcorn for every guest, she turns our local parks into places where the music plays and the whole neighborhood shows up.

Sara Vaas,
Dizzy Charlie's Music & Events
It's about the people you meet while you're there, the conversations that start between songs, and the stories you take home with you.
This summer, come experience it yourself:
Bancroft Park: Every Tues, 6–8 pm
Acacia Park: Every Thurs, 6–8 pm
Grab a chair, bring a neighbor, and come find your groove. See the full schedule at DizzyCharlies.com.
Note: Bringing live music to Acacia Park has been a labor of love for Sara, who's just $3,500 shy of her $35,000 goal. Local business owners who want to be part of this legacy can email [email protected] to learn about sponsorship packages and help keep the music playing.
