π¬ What If Your Second Act Is The Main Event?
π‘ For one local man, it was a question that changed everything
At 54, Trip Uhalt stood in a house that had grown quiet. The kids were older and gone, their laughter replaced by a loud silence⦠it felt unsettling. Three decades earlier, he'd traded comedy stages shared with Sinbad and Sam Kinison for bedtime stories. But in that new silence, a question took root: Was this the end of the story, or just the intermission?
The answer came with an improv audition. The part of him that lived for making people laughβa part he'd shelved for thirty yearsβroared back to life. It wasn't nostalgia; it was a homecoming. In 2014, Trip was chosen for that comedy improv group, but in 2018 bet on himself again, launching Oxymorons Comedy from scratch.
This wasn't about reclaiming a spotlight. It was about proving that the brightest lights illuminate others.
He crafted his new path with relentless discipline, posting daily memes to a blank Facebook page and performing in dive bars as if they were Broadway. That grit paid off. Today, Oxymorons Comedy performs to packed houses monthly at Peak Improv Theater, holds multiple awards, and has built a community of 20,000 followers who are part of something bigger than a comedy show.
Every performance is an act of service. The group raises nearly $10,000 for charity each year. Their annual "Hunger Games" event, every November, masterfully unites rival comedy troupes, putting competition aside to support the Springs Rescue Mission.
"We create a space where three generationsβgrandparents, parents, and kidsβcan all laugh at the same jokes," Trip says with an infectious smile. "There are no awkward car rides home, just shared joy."
This isn't a story about a man reliving his youth. It's about using life's wisdom to build a legacy. Trip proves that the intermission is just life preparing you for an unforgettable second act.
Join his mission. Experience laughter firsthand at Peak Improv Theater every second Saturday (excluding Dec.) Visit OxymoronsComedy.com, where your ticket does more than buy a laughβit helps build a community.
